Guppy’s Wild Adventure

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Guppy. He was on his way to Membraneous Miscellaneous, the most popular amusement park around, on his day off from school.

Guppy entered the park with paying with his membraneous dollars (gift card) and so therefore the staff allowed him to enter the park.

In a cell, the cell membrane, which is selectively permeable, only allows some things to enter.

After entering the park, Guppy decided to put his backpack and jacket in the lockers to store for the day.

In a cell, the vacuole is used to store materials temporarily, just like in a locker you store things temporarily.

Guppy soon became hungry and decided to go eat at the food court. And at each food place, there were different choices of foods and drinks to pick from. In a cell, the endoplasmic reticulum is the cite of cellular reactions and has ribosomes located on it, like the many different food choices at each food place.

He finally decided on buying a smoothie!

As guppy was walking to find a place with a map, he turned and ran into the fifth grade bully and spilled his smoothie all over him! The bully gave one look at Guppy then immidietly took off chasing him.

As Guppy was running he noticed he was still carrying his smoothie cup, so he found a trashcan to dispose of his trash.

In a cell, a lysosome is where excess or worn out organelles and food particles go, just like a trashcan is where you throw away things you don’t need anymore.

When he turned around, he found out he had yet to lose the bully. Guppy picked up his feet and started running faster than he’d ever run before.

Guppy had been waiting for a map, so when he looked ahead and saw the main building, which contained maps, he went right in.In a cell, the nucleus controls all activities in the organelles and has directions to make proteins in it, just like the information stand has directions and answers to all your questions.

When he went into the main building, the people in there helped guppy find out how to get to the most popular attraction…the rollercoaster.

Guppy arrived at the point in the park where everything goes in different ways and is sorted into different lines for different rides.

In a cell, the golgi body sorts proteins into packages and packs them into vesicles, like this point in the park where it sends you different ways.

As Guppy was deciding which way he wanted to go, he heard the bully yell out, “I’m gonna get you!” Guppy became scared and went down the first path he saw.

After he got off rollercoaster, Guppy, full of energy, ran all the way to the food court to get away from the bully. But when he arrived, he saw the bully immediately. He soon decided a bargain would be the only way to settle things between him and the bully. In a cell, the mitochondria provides the cell with energy, just like the rollercoaster provides the riders with a lot of enthusiasm and energy.

Guppy asked the bully that if he bought him a smoothie, if everything could be even between them. The bully liked this bargain and decided it would be the way to settle things. So in the end, the bully got a smoothie and never chased Guppy again.

What do you say?

Once Guppy bought the bully a new smoothie and all of the problems got resolved, the bully never came after Guppy again.

Hmm…I guess so
