Question One:
Firstly, I had to evaluate and research all genres of music magazines and which style is most popular and with what age group. I
discovered many magazines that from a personal opinion did not appeal to me, such
as ‘Heavy metal’ and magazines such as ‘NME’. By this approach, I decided to inspire myself and produce a magazine that I would
enjoy reading.
My style of magazine I chose to use was ‘folk’ as this genre is rarely seen in your high
street stores, therefore there is a space in the market for a magazine like this.
Studying the music within the charts also was clear that more artists like ‘Adele’ are
preferably singing acoustically and using less computer advance techniques to adapt
the songs.
All three of these magazines inspired me for my front cover layout and colour schemes
‘Froots’ magazine influenced me mostly, as it is representing various cultures and their music. I thought this was interesting and different compared to all the other magazines I researched. The most popular included modern top 40 pop music and the fashion market. This encouraged me to use a particular model of a different religion to stand out and add variety to my magazine.

Similarly to ‘Billboard’s’ front cover, I didn’t particularly wish to develop a colour scheme
however along the theme of ‘folk’ you instantly think of nature and acoustic guitar.
By this imagery I chose to use black and green to add a sense of purity and freshness
like the music is.
I also preferred the way the title was covering the artist as this shows that they are apart of
the music and creating it rather than dominating and controlling the magazine. I wanted my model to be converse and not
stand out to much as her character is portrayed as relaxed and breaking through
the music industry slowly.
