Who would be the audience foryour media product?

The audience in which myself and group discussed would be the most appropriate for our media product

are Males aged 15 and over (as shown below.)

After researching at a lot of different audiences for our film I came to the decision that it will primarily target male audiences. Furthermore I have picked

this audience because I feel fire fighting scenes will intrigue the male audience because of the action

within our film. However it may also attract females who are into the action genre too or even girlfriends

of the men that are interested. Thus after researching further we believe that our target

audience of 15 and over may coincide with the population who’d rather watch the genre of film

which is comedy, this is because the favoured genre by that age group is both action and comedy. On the

other hand due to the wide range of comedy films around competing with one another I feel that the

action genre stands out more, this is due to the fact that you don’t see a large amount of this type of film around, so as a result our age range is more likely to

go and see it.Personally I wouldn’t watch this sort of film as the

action genre doesn’t appeal to me, however if I was with a group of friends or boyfriend that wanted to

watch this film I wouldn’t complain.

Moreover after doing further research I also felt our opening two minutes to our film would be

under the 15 certificate within our film. Additionally I have researched into the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) which states that a video recording, game or film should not be seen or

bought by a person under the age of 15 years old, also this applies to watching a film in the cinema.

Furthermore within our opening two minutes I have researched using the British Board of Film

Classification further into the use of language as that relates to our film and script and have found out that

there may be frequent use of strong language, for example using the ‘f’ word. Additionally the strongest terms are acceptable too aslong as they are backed up by the context, however these aggressive words

cannot be constantly repeated. On the other hand after a lot of consideration myself

and other team members decided not to use the script as closely as first thought, this is due to the fact that the change of scenes and characters. So therefore there was no need to add such inappropriate words

where unnecessary.
