BethanyKids is a compassionate Christian mission transformingthe lives of African children with surgical conditions anddisabilities through pediatric surgery, rehabilitation, publiceducation, spiritual ministry, and training health professionals.

POSITION POSTING - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

BethanyKids is seeking expressions of interest for the position ofExecutive Director.

Its ministry is focused towards children needing surgical andrehabilitative care on the continent of Africa. Its primary base isat Kijabe, Kenya, where it has access to the facilities of the AICKijabe Hospital to perform surgery on approximately 2,000children per year, to care for them following surgery, and to trainAfrican doctors as an accredited pediatric surgery training site.

BethanyKids also operates many Mobile Clinics throughoutKenya, and provides the rehabilitative care to 300 primary schoolchildren at the Joytown Primary School for Children withDisabilities in Thika, Kenya. A full-time Chaplain is a key memberof our team at Kijabe to support the families and share with themthe message of Jesus Christ. Recent surgical trainee graduates arenow working in partnering hospitals in Madagascar, Ethiopia,Sierra Leone and Uganda.

BethanyKids is governed through Boards of Trustees in the USA,Canada, and the UK. An International Board is comprised of three(3) representatives appointed by each national Board, and is theprimary governing body.

Highlighted Responsibilities Include

Reporting to the International Board, the primary responsibilities of the Executive Director are to:

1. Support the Marketing and Development initiatives of BethanyKids by being theface and voice of the organization, serving as the primary liaison with existingprincipal donors, and speaking to Foundations and other potential major donorsabout BethanyKids. Particular attention to Marketing and Development inCanada and the United Kingdom will be a priority.

2. Oversee, and be accountable for all aspects of BethanyKids operations, including(but not limited to) medical, administrative, financial, spiritual and humanresource components. The successful applicant will be supported in this by theClinical Director, the Director of Finance & Administration, and by the Directorfor Africa.

3. Regularly advise the International Board on strategic and operational matters tosupport its decision-making role.

4. Implement decisions of the International Board.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

1. Fully support the Mission Statement, including its faith perspectives2. Have prior non-profit NGO experience at a senior management or clinical level3. Have substantial prior experience working in Africa4. Be able and willing to travel globally as required (e.g. USA, Canada, UK, Africa)5. Have strong presentation skills in speaking to a wide variety of audiences6. Have prior experience in working with a volunteer governing body7. Have strong interpersonal skills in leading staff and accomplishing goals

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with experience, and reasonable in comparison toother similar positions in the nonprofit arena. Compensation also includes anegotiated benefit package with statutory holidays and 5 weeks of vacation per year.
