How to implement activity-based workplaces - site tour Post Conference Workshop B Thursday 2nd July 2015, 9:00am – 11:00am

At the end of 2014 the NSW Treasury and Department of Premier and Cabinet moved to new innovative premises at 52 Martin Place, Sydney. This move was central to NSW’s overall drive to explore a new working environment for Government.

In order for this process to be a success, the Departments involved undertook a complete transformation of their operations to achieve a successful implementation. This involved a detailed evaluation of the people and culture, coupled with a strategy to maximise its impact.

This site tour will offer a unique opportunity for other Government Departments to tour the site and gain an understanding of how a similar model could be implemented into their own property strategy. The tour will commence with the CIO of Premier and Cabinet, followed by a Q&A session to help build a strategy for your own journey.

The workshop will explore:• Why Premier and Cabinet took the decision to move towards ABW• The main roadblocks they had to overcome• How they transformed the culture to adopt an innovative outlook• Steps taken to improve collaboration and productivity of the employees• Technologies used to enable the transition• Future drivers for the Department to adopt a more flexible working

environment

How to build a culture which will promote collaboration & productivity in GovernmentMid Conference Workshop A Tuesday 30th June 2015, 5:30pm – 8:00pm

One of the major hurdles for Government in their transition towards more innovative working environments is the structure and culture of the organisation. The public sector is vastly different to its private counterpart and has many hierarchical issues which make change difficult to manage.

As Governments begin to evolve their operations and drive internal innovation, workplace culture is one of the key contributors to success. With a strong strategy and buy in from the employees, the transition to a more collaborative and innovative workforce is very achievable.

This workshop will explore how Government at all levels can create a strategy to adopt a culture which will embrace more flexible workplaces and transform the overall service of its employees.

The workshop will help you answer the following key questions:• How to understand your organisation and the employees within it• How to communicate transformational culture strategies effectively• How to increase employee buy in and create a collaborative workplace• How to build a culture of trust throughout the levels of hierarchy• How to ensure an innovative workforce for the future

The conference will address how to:• Reduce office space and overall costs by implementing

innovative workplace designs• Improve productivity, collaboration and efficiency with

workplace transformation• Leverage new technologies to modernise the workplace

and allow for genuine mobility

Explore the Government workplace for the future! The pressure is increasing on Government to cut down on real estate expenditure and make maximum use of the working space available. Driving costs down, increasing productivity and building a more efficient, flexible and collaborative workspace represents a massive opportunity for Government.

Government also needs to respond to the needs of their employees. Staff recruitment and retention challenges are driving the need for a more flexible approach to the workplace. This means IT will play a significant role in enabling change and mobility solutions.

Welcome to ‘Models for Innovative Government Workplaces’. This event will bring together Government departments from all across Australia to discuss how they can develop and evolve their working environment in order to drive the performance of workplaces, increase staff productivity and create innovative and mobile work environments.
