Grahame Park Council Estate

Council estates is a stereotypical view of where rebellious teens originate from, we are using this to show the negative outcomes of youths in gangs on estates from lower class.Presenters Interviewing youth would be ideal here.

Case Study 1For our case study we have

decided to go with X factor Frankie cocozza, who does class a drugs and drinks alcohol. He is a rebellious teenager so he represents the negative representations of youths.

We will look at:

•How many youths go on to higher education

•How youths help their community( fair-trade, youth club, peer mentoring)

•Youths handing in their knifes and guns to the police

•How youths use their talents for good(N- Dubz song- we dance on)

Statistics

Alcohol is the leading cause of youth death. Shows how much youths drink.

47% of adults believe that teenagers are portrayed in the media as drug abusers, alcoholics or as participating in anti-social behaviour, while only 7% of the people surveyed believed that they are portrayed in a positive way.

The media should cover more positive stories about young people?

When interviewing the public we will be very diverse and interview people from different

•social class, •age•ethnic background

to find out different views and opinions on our topic to create debate this will be effective as we will be able to generalise our results from the majority of the public.

We will be interviewing Miss Rayners a sociologist to find out different perspectives and theories on why youths behave like this.

Miss Vas a mentor support who speaks to youths in an informal way to find out her thoughts and opinions on the subject.

We will also be interviewing Police officers as they link to laws, and to find out some statistics on youths alcohol and drug abuse.

INTERVIEWEES

We will be interviewing Youths and parents of youths for our case study as the case study shows positive and negative youths.

By interviewing youths we will find out if they think there behaviour is negative or positive, and by using parents we will be able to see different views on parental skills and the outcomes of this.

When interviewing youths we will write ‘victim of stereotype’ which is a convention of documentaries

We choose to interview them because they are the main people for our topic.
