1. 1. Posts and Tubes

Materials:

• Main Posts: Galvanized iron tubes with a diameter of 114mm and 3mm thick

• Secondary Posts: Galvanized iron tubes with diameters of 25/32/38/48/60mm and 2,5mm thick

• The quality of the galvanized iron complies to standard GB/T700-1988

• The welding and the technology used for the welding adopts the method of CO2 shielded arc welding and complies with BS-1387-1985 standard

Processes and Treatments: • After cutting, assembling and welding the galvanized posts, the process

continues with sandblast cleaning and drying

• A first application of anti-corrosion coating powder is applied (Akno Nobel Interpon PZ660), followed by a application of a powder coating, based on polyester resin which is especially designed to retain and give stability to the surface color (Akzo Nobel Interpon 600).

Outdoor Fitness

(Actual Standards)

The enormous demand for outdoor fitness combined with the speed with which the European market for these products has grown, has bought great confusion with regards to European standards and regulation, therefore exposing risks of personal injury in some of the machines that are not certified in the appropriate category.

In the current market, there are outdoor fitness machines with NO certification of European safety standards or they are certified according to the European standard UNE-1176. This standard is specifically directed at playgrounds for children.

It is our opinion that outdoor fitness equipment are neither playgrounds, nor are they directed at children.

What's more, in July 2009, the largest group of product certifiers in the world, TÜV Group, paralyzed the certifying of outdoor fitness machines with the brand GS because they consider that the European standard for playgrounds (UNE-1176) was not suitable for outdoor exercise equipment.

This clearly shows the lack of specific legislation and standards for these types of machines. This is particularly worrying if you consider that the vast majority of these apparatus are manufactured in Asia.

The TÜV Group are currently working on a new European standard aimed specifically at outdoor exercise equipment. Parkesa is working with the TÜV Rheinland Group to ensure that our products comply with these new regulations.

Our outdoor fitness equipment are currently certified by the TÜV Rheinland Group according the following European standards

• UNE EN 957-1: 2005 (Floor standing fitness equipment)

• UNE EN 957-7: 1998 (Floor standing fitness equipment. Rowing machines)

• 2 pfg 1002/02.06 (TÜV internal standard specifically aimed at outdoor fitness

equipment)

We hope that the standard 2pfg1002/02.06 will become the new European standard for all outdoor fitness equipment.

Aesthetics and Convenience for Users

Since the environment in which these exercise equipments are installed and used are parks, gardens or in open fields, our devices are manufactured in colors to fully integrate them with the surroundings and offer more compatible aesthetics. Most equipment on the market today use metal seats, making its usage difficult especially in the winter months and in areas with hot summers. Our exercise machines have injected plastic seats to offer greater comfort for users.

The footrest of most fitness equipments are also made of a single sheet causing frequent slips and therefore increasing the risk of accidents. Our foot rests are non-slip rubber coated to greater security when performing the exercises.
