While Observing the slide of Villous Adenoma

• Epithelial Polyp- (Abnormal growth of tissue from the mucous membrane)

• Generally Sessile- upto 10cm diameter, velvety, cauliflower like projections 1-3 cm above normal mucosa

• The Frondlike(large divided leaf like) villiforms are surrounded by Dyplastic, disorderly arranged columnar epithelium

• Site of Adenoma- Colon, Rectum and Rectosigmoid

While Observing the slide of Leiomyoma– A.K.A Fibroids

• In HPO- Observe the whorling of the smooth muscles of the myometrium

• Fibrosis of the stroma is found.

• Also Known as Fibroids because they are firm.

• Facts– Leiomyoma is the most common benign tumour in women and they arise from smooth muscle of myometrium. They occur during active reproductive life.In Menopause they may calcify.Estrogen stimulate their Growth.

While observing the slide of Fibroadenoma

• Proliferating intralobular stroma pushing the epithelium

• There are 2 types of fibroadenoma1. Pericanalicular Fibroadenoma

In this kind of Fibroadenoma the ductal space are round/oval and fairly regualar

2. Intracanalicular Fibroadenoma Over here there is extensive proliferation of

surrounding stroma which compresses the ducts giving them irregular/star shape on cross section.

Page 24: Neoplasia Lab

Poliferating Stroma is pushing The ducts leading to their irregularShape..This signifies of the slide being Intracanalicular fibradenoma
