What is distribution?

•Distribution is the process of making a movie available for viewing by an audience, it is done by a professional film distributor

who decides on the marketing, the media of how the film is going to be released like

DVD, cinema or television, and also decides on the release date.

• The film we have produced is a low budget, British horror film. Our film is like the horror/thriller film ‘Hush’ which is an

independent British film, which was distributed by many distributors such as Pathe Pictures International and Optium

Releasing and more.• I think Left Film Distribution seems like a distributor that will

be interested in distributing our film as it mainly distributes independent horror films for the UK, such as films like Devils Crossing and Cowboys Vs Zombies. I also think Arrow Films

will be interested as the specialise in cinema and horror films, like films like The Hunt.

Our film is mainly going to appeal to a British audience as it is a British film with British actors, but we are

aiming for a wider appeal outside of UK, either USA or even worldwide, but we know we will find this difficult to process as it is a low budget film, so it will be hard to

find a distributor that can make it worldwide that is within our budget, but hopefully it could appeal to an

audience outside the UK as it is a horror film which is a very popular genre.

•For our marketing strategies I think a good way to market our film is word of mouth by using social media as a lot of people use it, such as

sites like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr which are very popular and to start a trend for our film by using hashtags, this is a good way as it is suitable for our low budget. Another way we could promote our film if by

entering it in a film festival.

•Self distribution is also possible for our film as we can be offered opportunities from

‘quadcinema’, which organises press releases and shows screenings and is also

free, and we can also use film festivals such as The Film Festival Circuit.

Shifty

Metrodome is a company based in the UK, which makes ‘Shifty’ a well fitted film to be

chose as it is a British film, instead of it becoming an American film.
