On Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 12 noon, at Great Eastern Hotel, Makati Avenue, the Vocational Service Team of District 3830 held the first run/session of the Vocational Roadshow on Ethical Standards for Rotary. The event was co-hosted by 41 Rotary Clubs, our Club included, and there were 167 participants in attendance. Gov. Sid primed the event with an inspirational talk. The main speaker PP Doods Policarpio enthralled the audience with his powerful delivery of the topics—Developing Personal and Organizational Leadership. A truly gifted speaker, he kept a hall full of Rotarians quiet, some of whom were seen taking down notes or intently catching each of his words as if none should be missed. Ladies kept theirdiscipline and refused to go to the Comfort Room for fear of missing some of what PP Doods might say.As if his brilliant presentation was not yet enough, PP Doods also committed to provide two scholarship certificates for the Dale Carnegie Training, to be given to two participants who will complete the 10 modules of the Vocational Roadshow.Thank you to the DCC for Vocational Service & team, and the officers and members of RC

We fell in love on the first day that we met

Together we’re been happy,I heave very few regrets.

The ordinary problems have not been out to face

But lately little changes have been slowly taking place

You’re always finding somethingIs wrong in what I do

But you can’t re-arrange my life Because it pleases you.

Chorus:

You’ve got to love me for what I am

For simply being meDon’t love for what you intend

or hope that I will beAnd if you’re only using me to

feed your fantasyYou’re really not in love,

so let me goI must be free.

If what you wan’t isn’t natural for me

I won’t pretend to keep you,What I am I have to be

The picture of perfection is only in your mind

For all your expectations, love can never be designed

We either take each other for everything we are

Or leave the life we’re made behind

And make another start. (Repeat Chorus)

Can’t Smile Without You

You know I can’t smile without you I can’t smile without youI can’t laugh and I can’t singI’m finding it hard to do anything

You see I feel sad when you’re sadI feel glad when you’re gladIf you only knew What I’m going throughI just can’t smile without you

You came along just like a songAnd brightened my dayTruly believed you’re part of my dreamNow it all seems light years away

And now I can’t smile without you I can’t smile without youI can’t laugh and I can’t singI’m finding it hard to do anything

You see I feel sad when you’re sadI feel glad when you’re gladIf you only knew What I’m going throughI just can’t smile without you

Now some people say Happiness takes So very long to findWell I’m finding it hard Leaving your love behind me

And you see I can’t smile without you I can’t smile without youI can’t laugh and I can’t singI’m finding it hard to do anything

You see I feel glad when you’re gladI feel sad when you’re sadIf you only knew What I’m going throughI just can’t smile without you

ROTARY INFORMATION

Rotary Community Corps One of the programs in Rotary’s panoply of worldwide service activities and projects is the Rotary Community Corps. Formerly known as Rotary Village Corps (or Rotary Community Service Corps in urban areas). This form of grassroots self-help service was initiated by RI President M.A.T Caparas in 1986 as a means of improving the quality of life in villages, neighborhoods, and communities. The programs is built on the premise that there is frequently an abundance of available labor in an area but no process for mobilizing men and women to conduct useful projects of community improvement. A Rotary Community Corps is a Rotary club-sponsored group of non-Rotarains who want to help their own community by conducting service projects. Rotarians provide professional expertise, guidance, encouragement, organizational structure, and some of the material assistance for the Rotary Community Corps, whose members contribute the manpower and knowledge of community needs to help their own community. Thus, the Rotary Community Corps is another way for Rotarians to serve in places of great need. .

President’s Message By SVP Susan Ringol

Warm greetings to all of you! I am very thankfulthat we are favored with a cool weather just right forour lunch meeting today. Our team visit was very successful, thank you foryour presence and participation. Now comes the partwhen we have to “ walk the talk ”. To start off we have to raise funds for our projects. Our first move towards this end is to solicit advertisements for our souvenir program to be published on our induction day.As of this time we have already received some advertisement pledges from PP Sioni, PP Evelyn, Rtn Nilda and Rtn Joy. Our other members have also expressed their support in this endeavor and will give us their update this week. Thank you, thank you! Go Team Greenbelt Go! Our venue for the induction will be at the South Wing of W. Cameron Forbes Pavilion in North Forbes on August 24, 2009. Thanks to our PP Sioni who took care of the arrangements thru the help of her daughter Riza. For their part in the fund raising, PP Al proposed on our July 16 meeting to have a raffle wherein he committed to solicit the prizes together with PP Wally. During our fellowship meeting on July 23, PP Wally seconded PP Al’s proposal and fully supported the commitment to solicit the prizes. And there’s more, PP Wally also pledged some prizes for our co-sponsorship of the 3rd leg of the golf tournament come October 2009. Thanks to you PP Al & PP Wally. And there’s more, Rtn Ana handed-over her pledged ready for distribution. Her original pledge was only for 20 students, but out of her generosity she decided to give us 50 Scholarship Certificates. Many thanks to you too Rtn Ana. Now all we have to do is to coordinate with school principals of at least three schools for the awarding of the scholarship to deserving poor students. Our everwilling and always available PP Sioni has promised to take charge of this. Thanks very much PP Sioni. This early we have already participated as co-sponsors of two projects. The Vocational Roadshow and the Barangay Judicial System Seminar. We have also applied for the Gilda Catalina Lim Foundation grant for the tree planting project that we will conduct sometime in November. We have also expressed our support for the “Every Reader a Leader” project. As we move on, let us always remember that we have so many people and graces to be thankful for. And that if we put our hands and hearts together, in our own little way, we could make this world a better place to live in So, let’s make it happen! Let’s do our best and God will do the rest.
