• The opening sequence starts off with the product companies coming up in a ghostly font. This font is very freaky as it looks like its written by chalk but with a ghostly feel to it. It also has the names of the characters in the film that are all in the same type of font so we know who is in it. It has a weird clip where there is an extreme close up of someone cutting the dead skin off of his fingers with a razor which shocks the audience as they do not expect to see this. The title comes up and we know that it is the title as it is on the screen for the longest and it stands out the most to the black background so the audience know what is it they are watching. There is then a clip of a man crossing someone's face out which confuses the audience as they do not know who this man is and why his face is crossed out. The mans hand who we see all the time is very dirty and this makes us think bad things about him as the low key light makes his fingers look even worse and scarier which emphasises that he is not a nice man and tries to do weird experiments on himself. The soundtrack makes the opening even weirder as it continues to build up but nothing happens at the end which also build confusion and tension as they think something will help with the story but they have left it to your imagination just from the soundtrack.

ALIEN: RESURRECTION (1997)HTTP://WWW.ARTOFTHETITLE.COM/TITLE/ALIEN-RESURRECTION/

• This opening sequence has an extreme close up the entire way through of some disturbing images of aliens which may freak the audience out. The main priority of colour in this opening sequence is green as aliens signify the colour green and it is what we remember them to be. The font is in white with a green edge around it which represents the alien colour. The soundtrack in the background is an alien sound which stands out as it can build tension in the audience as they could think an alien could come up at any minute. The pictures are created by using CGI as it shows the skin or the inside of an alien to show what they look like and how disgusting they are. The music then reaches its highest point when the title of the film comes up to grab the audiences attention. The title stands out to the rest of the other fonts as this is the main point in the opening sequence and is by far the biggest font. It then goes into space which shocks the audience as they are not expecting this to come up, this makes the audience keep watching as they want to know what is happening. When the camera goes into space there is an establishing shot of the ship to make the ship look bigger. The directors name comes up right at the end on its own as he/she is one of the main people who have made this film therefore should be known.

MACGRUBER (2010)HTTP://WWW.ARTOFTHETITLE.COM/TITLE/MACGRUBER/

• The first thing we see in this opening sequence is the title of the film as it stands out. It seems to be a name on a locker as this is the theme of the film as it is all about one man. Then there is an extreme close up into words which are highlighted in yellow by using CGI as nobody has actually drawn anything on there, this makes it stand out and so we know some key information about the main character like “Real American Hero”. The camera has a consistent movement using a pan movement as it shows the audience that he is doing lots. I will use this in my opening sequence that I create as it shows him planning what he is doing and the shot types and movement are good and effective. We can tell that this man is some sort of bomber as he has all the equipment and looks like he knows what he is doing, this is done by the props which he has got like the ticking time bomb and all the wires which are shown. This shows he is smart and knows what he is doing. In the soundtrack in the background we can hear a ticking of a bomb which confuses the audience as they aren't sure what he is doing. This is non-stereotypical for an opening sequence because we are not sure if he is the antagonist or the protagonist which stands out as the protagonist is normally the first on screen. We then get an extreme long shot of all the police cars as it seems that they are looking for him which infers that he is a wanted man but he does not seem to be worried as we get close ups of his face looking like he is enjoying himself. Another title comes up at the end in case you missed it the first time but this one is much bigger and has a lot more to offer because it is explosive and has pleonastic sounds of the explosion and the metal crashing together. There also is a sense of mystery because we do not actually see his proper face as he has glasses on the whole time and the camera angles do not show his entire face until right at the end, this builds a mysterious character who is very well hidden. The font of the producers and characters is very bold and in dark red which connotes danger and explosions.

LORD OF WAR (2005)HTTP://WWW.ARTOFTHETITLE.COM/TITLE/LORD-OF-WAR/• This opening sequence is very unique. There are not many sequences like this which is

why I chose it. It starts off in a warehouse where bullets a made using a birds eye view of what machine they are created in. There is only one shot throughout this opening sequence and that is a close up behind the bullet that we follow the whole way around different parts of the world. We are living the life of a bullet and what it goes through to show how dangerous and how they are made. The main character comes up right at the start so the audience know the big star in the film. The title comes up after this to make sure the audience are still watching. This is very bold and in white colour as this stands out because there is not a lot of bright colours in this opening sequence. This shows how war can be and how horrific it is. As the camera follows the bullet around it shows how many are produced, this makes the one bullet that is being followed unique and the audience feel like this bullet and done something good or bad. When the bullets are rolling around, CGI is used as if it was real then the camera would just fall off, this is edited in. When the box is opened the bullet is at a whole new different location which looks like in Africa somewhere, this insinuates that war is all over the world. The costumes the people are wearing are African military costumes which stand out as we know they will be the antagonists as they normally dress in a foreign outfit. There is a pleonastic sound of when the bullet is put into the gun which builds tension as we do not know where the bullet is going to go or be shot at. There is a soundtrack throughout which sounds like country music, it is not a sad or scary sound so the audience feel fine about it. All of a sudden the bullet is fired and it hits a little innocent boy then the soundtrack cuts off and goes silent which shocks the audience as they did not expect this. This builds sadness and shock towards the audience.

WORLD WAR ZHTTP://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=KQASS1_ENI0

• The opening sequence of World War Z shows different places with different shot types like a long shot of a house or and extreme long shot of the tube station with people walking out. This infers that it seems to be like a normal day with people doing the normal things which you do in everyday life so the audience thinks everything is ok. This is different from the soundtrack and it is a mysterious soundtrack which we are not sure what it is going to happen. The pictures are cut in half with the moving image and a black screen which has all of the characters and producers on it. This is so they stand out and to make sure that the audience can see it clearly. We can tell that there are some issues as the diegetic sounds of the people on the TV and on the radio which we can hear over the top but the people can hear it also. The images cross cut as they are all in different parts of the world to infer that it is a normal day and it is about to change. Not only this, but we see some shocking images of dolphins that have been swept up which is a long shot which insinuates mystery as the audience are not quite sure what is happening as the day seems normal but is a bit different. The font of the producers and characters is a white colour so it is easy to read and bold so it stands out as these are important people who worked on the film. The soundtrack then builds up to get even faster and louder as the opening title comes up, furthermore the pictures that are coming up happen faster as something is not right which builds confusion in the audience. The images show vulnerability of the humans as they look weak, mostly from the high angle shots and long shots which make them look smaller and more vulnerable.
