What We Do

• Summit is a specialized consultancy that helps clients (80% Federal, 20% private) solve problems using:– Statistical and econometric analysis– Financial analysis– Data analysis and database management

What Makes Summit Unique?

• Summit employees are more than just number crunchers.– We use advanced quantitative methods to solve real world problems.– Lots of face time with clients – people skills are as important as

quantitative skills.– We see our role as that of a trusted advisor.

• Very collaborative environment– Teamwork is huge here!– Nearly “flat” organizational structure allows collaboration with

professionals at all levels, from Principals to Analysts.

• Not an up-or-out organization– Our Principal Anthony Curcio envisions Summit as a place where you can

our staff promoted January 2014.

• Communicative and helpful staff– Collaborate with professionals on all levels, including established PhDs– “Open door policy” – everyone has opportunity to voice concerns – Internal working groups allow employees to affect policies (e.g., breakfast at

morning staff meetings, casual Fridays)

• We work hard, but also like to have fun– Summit sports teams – soccer, kickball, softball– Summit-sponsored happy hours– Committees around staff interests – wellness, social, philanthropy

• Flexible schedules around core hours

How We Do ItContinuing Professional Development

• Summit encourages staff to pursue professional development and continuing education opportunities– Yearly allowance to attend conferences or classes– Support for academic writing, such as dissertations or presentations

• Professional Education and Knowledge Seminars (PEAKS)– Bi-weekly sessions led by Summit staff and outside professionals– Knowledge sharing opportunities for individuals who work in disparate

projects– Past sessions have including Python, GIS, and effective presentations

How You Can Join UsSummer Analyst/Associate Program

• Summit invites undergraduate and graduate students to work as paid Summer Analysts and Associates on our active engagements.

• Six students -- four graduate and two undergraduate -- made up our 2014 intern class

• Our interns became an integral part of our teams, making models, presenting findings, and working with clients including:– U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA)– U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD)– U.S. Small Business Administration’s 504(c) and 7(a) loan programs– U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s grant management system

What We Look for in our Interns

• Spring 2016 graduates-to-be• Academic excellence in classes requiring quantitative rigor• We also look for candidates who:

– Have coding skills through coursework or work experience– Demonstrate strong soft skills– Ultimately want to stay in DC– Express a willingness to learn

• We are interested in finding people who are a good fit for the work and for Summit more than graduate/undergraduate composition
