Hyperplasia

An altered cell divides

in an uncontrolled

manner which

results in an excess of

cells in that region. Cells

have a normal

appearance but there are too many of them.

DysplasiaCells change genetically. They no longer look normal or function normally.

Carcinoma in situ

Cells are dysfunctional, but have not invaded surrounding tissues. If caught in this stage, most cancer is curable.
