Survey Responses
For the first question there were 15 people who answered overall and three
more people were female. When making a music magazine, I will use this
information to base my colour scheme with more of a feminine side but not
that much as males still read them. By using this survey it tells me that my
audience will likely to have females buying them. However I wont make them
only appealable to girl because I want it to be mostly gender neutral.
The second question was based around the age range so I could contain
information and pictures suitable for them and immediately I can see that all of
the people answering were in the group 16-24. using these results I can
include data that most 16-24 year olds will understand.
Most of the responses were Leeds and York, mainly people from the north so
by including language that is appropriate for these people will appeal to them
more by including features which northern people will relate to.
A lot of people answered with never buying music magazines which could be an
advantage as to what I include in my magazine as they don’t have a personal
favourite so I need to put extra effort in for it to stand out and appeal to my
audience.
From this question I can feature music which is most appealable to my target
audience which is mainly rock, indie and very little pop.
This tells me that the most popular place where music magazines are bought
are in newsagents and retail stores. So they can be sold in either shops that
are well-known or local shops that aren't far away to buy.
The most popular magazines bought are NME and Kerrang which relates back
to the type of music which people listen to because these magazines feature
rock and indie bands which gives me a sense of my target audiences
preferences.
From this I can infer that people are willing to pay £2-£3 for a music magazine,
which some music companies use but others are much higher which suggests
why some responses are £3-£4 but in my opinion it is too high.
This question has given me a sense of what to include in my music magazine
showing the most important features that my target audience would want to
see most. From this I can infer that pictures, interviews and posters are the
favourites. These will appeal to the widest audience which I can use for the
different bands and music preferences.
A lot of the responses were relaxing and finding information about relevant
bands, showing me they read it in their spare time and to include information
about a lot of bands.
