March 19, 2017 - Third Sunday of Lent | 3
D F ,
Peace and all Good! On this Third Sunday of Lent, we hear the beau -ful story of the conversion of the Samaritan Woman at the well. In a real way, this woman was the first disciple to the Gen les—a genera on before St. Paul! In this story, Jesus promises her “living wa-ter.” What is this “living water?” Living water has a connec on to its source. Living water refers to oceans, streams, and rivers—water that flows, pours, moves through its courses. Stagnant water, like the water in a cup, just sits there and eventually becomes impure for lack of replenishing from a re-newing source. As we hear about this amazing en-counter today, let us remember our Bap sm. In this sacrament, Jesus gives us “living water.” Where in your life is God’s living water flowing? You will see in today’s bulle n a request for dona-
ons to purchase Easter Lilies in memory/honor of loved ones or in thanksgiving to God. A special Mass will be offered for all of these inten ons. Thank you for your generosity. This week we con nue with our Lenten devo-
ons. You are invited to Taize Prayer at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesdays of Lent and Sta ons of the Cross on Fridays at 5:30 p.m. (English) and 7:00 p.m. (Spanish), all in the Old Mission. Also, don’t forget to prepare for our Lenten Rec-oncilia on Liturgies on Thursday, March 30th at 1:00 p.m. and at 7:00 p.m. What be er way to prepare for the Paschal Mystery of Christ’s passion, death and resurrec on than in the Sacrament of Reconcili-a on. Finally, don’t forget our Soup and Study of the Fi-nal Words of Jesus from the cross, on Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. with soup and 6:30 p.m. for our study and reflec on of the Lord’s Last Testament to us!
Love,
LENTEN SOUP AND STUDY “The Last Words of Jesus”
Thursdays of Lent: 23rd & April 6th. St. Francis Hall—6:30 p.m.
The final words of a dying person are precious to those le behind. When the me is short, one has a chance to speak only of the most important things—love, for-giveness, and faith. That is why the Church has a long tradi on of medita ng on the last words of Jesus from the cross. Join us!
LENTEN “TAIZE PRAYER” Wednesdays at 7pm - Old Mission
March 22, 29 & April 5
All are welcome to our beautiful Taize Prayer Service This prayer for reconcilia-tion is clearly definitely needed right now in our times. Through meditative and simple chants, we are brought into the presence of God. We add twinkling candles and hear the Word of God. Then, we venerate a special cross—a replica of the cross of Taize. Our prayer will be bilingual. Please come and be nourished by this beautiful and meditative prayer on Wednesdays of Lent at 7:00 p.m. in the Old Mission Church.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith.

Jesus’ longest-recorded conver-sa on with anyone is the one he has with the Samaritan woman at the well. She discovers she can be honest with Jesus and goes and tells others about him. She gives witness. She’s not the most
certain, thorough or even convincing witness. But her witness is enough. It is invi ng, humble, non-judgmental and sincere. What is the quality of our witness? How do our words and ac ons give daily tes mony on behalf of Christ? During this season of Lent, how might we do a be er job at proclaiming the risen Lord in word and deed?
