CHRISTMAS IN JULY JEWELRY BOUTIQUE NEEDS YOUR DONATIONS

As the bou que chairwoman for the 7th year, I can tell you that the school is very grateful to the generous parishioners who have donated jewelry in past years. Last year, we raised $5k for the school! Once again we are collec ng and WE DO NEED YOUR HELP. If you have jewelry that you never wear, please consider dona ng it to help the school raise funds. We accept cos-tume jewelry of any era, gold and silver jewelry, broken chains, watches (working or not), rosaries, and men's jewelry. We also accept women's accessories, including purses/wallets and trinkets. Without your generosity, there would be no bou que. We rely en rely on parish-ioners for dona ons. Every item donated is personally appraised, cleaned and priced by jewelry co-chairs, Ann and Zophia. You may drop off jewelry in the school office on week days (or in the parish office). HISTORIC CHURCH RE-OPENS—VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

MISSION FOUNDER’S DAY - JUNE 15, 2013

Old Mission is turning 215 years old. To celebrate, the Franciscan Friars invite the community to a free and fam-ily-friendly event on Saturday, June 15th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We will also celebrate the grand re-opening of the Historic Church which has been closed to the public for the past year due to retrofit construc on. Founders Day at the Mission is an opportunity to ex-plore the museum, experience the private inner gardens of the Old Mission, and enjoy live entertainment, all at no charge. People of all ages can par cipate in a free lady bug re-lease at 10 a.m. in the rose gardens, a perfect way to help keep the gardens thriving, naturally. In addi on, a delicious benefit BBQ lunch is available for purchase, and the gi shop will offer a 10 percent discount on all pur-chases. A Mission Plant Sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. offering a variety of succulents, na ve plants, and annuals to spruce up a summer garden. TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE

Hoy celebramos la Pascua de Pentecostés. Esta es una de las tres Pascuas que celebramos los cris anos. Las otras dos son la Pascua de Resurrección (o Pascua Florida) y la Pascua del Nacimiento de Jesús. Estas tres solemnidades cris anas celebran tres momentos claves en el plan de salvación: la Encarnación del Verbo Divino (Jesús), su Pasión, Muerte y Resurrección y el descenso de su Espíritu Santo sobre la Iglesia. Pascua viene siendo el nombre de la principal solemnidad del calendario Ju-dío y recuerda la liberación del pueblo de Israel de la es-clavitud. Los cris anos hemos tomado ese nombre por reconocernos como descendientes de Abraham y porque en nuestras tres pascuas celebramos que Jesús viene a salvarnos, o sea, a liberarnos del pecado y sus conse-cuencias tanto personales como sociales. En muchas par-tes el tulo de Pascua se ha dejado para hablar de la Fiesta de la Navidad y la Fiesta de Pentecostés.
