• 6. Now these things having been thus prepared, the priests go in continually into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the services;

• 7. but into the second the high priest alone, once in the year, not without blood, which he offereth for himself, and for the errors of the people:

• 8. the Holy Spirit this signifying, that the way into the holy place hath not yet been made manifest, while the first tabernacle is yet standing;

Hebrews 9:6-12• 9. which is a figure for the time present; according to

which are offered both gifts and sacrifices that cannot, as touching the conscience, make the worshipper perfect,

• 10. being only (with meats and drinks and divers washings) carnal ordinances, imposed until a time of reformation.

• 11. But Christ having come a high priest of the good things to come, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation,

• 12. nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption.

The first tabernacle, a figure (type)

• had a priesthood• they served before God• gifts and sacrifices• only for the time present, imposed until a time of

reformation

A greater and moreperfect tabernacle

Our Priesthood

• We are living stones in a spiritual house (temple?)

• We are a holy priesthood

• We are to offer up spiritual sacrifices

15. but like as he who called you is holy, be ye yourselves also holy in all manner of living;

16. because it is written, Ye shall be holy; for I am holy.

17. And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, 18. Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and the base

thereof of brass, whereat to wash. And thou shalt put it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein.

19. And Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat:

20. when they go into the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn an offering made by fire unto Jehovah.

21. So they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they die not: and it shall be a statute for ever to them, even to him and to his seed throughout their generations.

• The first thing they approach is the ALTAR of sacrifice

• Before entering the Holy Place the priest had to wash in the LAVER

The Picture• Before entering the tabernacle

as a priest of God today, the Christian must first pass by the cross (Faith) and then wash (Baptism).

• Then the Christian enters into the presence of God to serve continually.

• The Christian never leaves the tabernacle

The True Tabernacle• Heaven itself, access to the

very presence of God• The veil has been torn and

there is NO longer anything separating the priest from God

• We have access through Jesus to everything we need to live and serve before God

Jesus Christ – our everything

• Our mercy seat / our atonement / our access into the very presence of God

• As a priest we are sanctified and equipped to serve God in holiness and truth

Living in the Presence of God

Hebrews 4:11-13 11. Let us therefore give diligence to enter into

that rest, that no man fall after the same example of disobedience.

12. For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13. And there is no creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
