AnswerDrinking water was impure and mosquitoes spread diseases. Food was scarce and some colonists were attacked by Native Americans

It was 30 miles up stream and protected by land on three sides. This caused the Virginia Company’s ships could easily bring supplies and more colonists. The settlement was also hidden from Spanish Ships along the shore

The Virginia Company did not send enough food and the did not grow enough supplement

Had strict rules that required all colonists to farm. Also had temporary peace with the Native Americans (Powhatans)

The Fight for Religious Freedom• Church of England was in charge

• Similar to the Roman Catholic Church, but had a few different rules

• Conformists- people that stayed true to the Church of England and obeyed its teachings

England, but wanted to get rid of any similarities of the Roman Catholic Church

• Separatists- The Church of England did not represent he true faith, so they decided to break away from the church

war over the colony. He was a harsh leader and the colonists refused to fight. Gave up before war broke out

Quakers A religious group whose beliefs went against the Church of England. They believed all people were equal. There were no titles. Also known as the Society of Friends
