ABOUT EVENTING

Welcome to eventing — the equine equivalent of the triathlon — Over the centuries it has evolved from the test of the ideal military charger to perhaps the most dangerous sport in the Summer Olympics—to both horse and rider. Eventing is a test of discipline, military type discipline. It combines the preciseness of dressage, the skill of overcoming obstacles in show jumping, with the measurement boldness, courage, and fitness of cross country.

It is a sport enjoyed frequently by the elite, the wealthy, and sometimes even by royalty. But for all its trappings of refinement, eventing has it’s risks and requires a certain level of…badassery. The slightest miscalculation in the cross country can cost the athlete’s a medal, and possibly the horse and rider’s life.

The equestrian audience is an upwardly mobile market segment, is very loyal to products and services—spending a total of $1.4 billion a year on equestrian- related products alone—and can be defined as “a rider, owner, trainer, groom or spectator.”

A B O U T

Teresa Harcourt, born in 1991, is an advanced level eventer from Northern California. In just a short period of time, she has ridden up to the Advanced Level in the three day eventing ranks with her horse, Bonza Twist of Fate "Skip". In 2012, Teresa had the privilege of being a member of the gold medal team at the North American Junior Young Rider Championships, a significant accomplishment.

In 2013, Teresa was named to the 2013 U.S. Eventing Association Developing Riders List, a distinguished honor for any young rider. Skip and Teresa have climbed up the levels together with multiple top level finishes at the CCI and CIC ** level. Not long ago, Teresa and Skip placed second in their first ever Advanced Level competition, further speculating that this rider is on her way to the top.
