In the United States and Canada, soccer has always held second tier
status to other sports.

Canada, and Major League Soccer (MLS) expanding to a more
prominent role in international football, soccer may be finally
developing into the powerhouse sport it is considered to be throughout

Established over 42 years ago, the Vancouver Whitecaps dissolved
and were later reinstated after professional American/Canadian
soccer ceased operations in 1985.
After twentysix years of instability, and playing in loweredtiered
leagues, Vancouver soccer finally regained premier status as a
member of Major League Soccer.

Since its reinstatement in the first tier of professional American
soccer, the team has steadily held the fourth highest attendance in
the MLS.

According to MLS Sources, Vancouver’s 2015 average
regular season attendance was more than 20,000
spectators.

the Western Conference behind FC Dallas,

Great things are in store for American/Canadian soccer in the coming
