You Rock: Avengers have led the way again
this month by having no incidents of drug
abuse, driving under the influence, or domestic
violence. The Soldiers of Alpha company con-
tinue to live by the three Avenger rules we talk
about each week in our safety briefs to their
benefit. Making smart choices off duty is just as
important as applying yourself during the duty
day; there are con-
sequences to both
and they can be
nothing short of
incredible success if
you make those
choices.
During July we
had individuals who faced suicide and were
able to get through those tough times and get
the help they needed immediately due to the
immediate actions of the Soldiers and NCOs
around them. Avengers continue to support
one another and serve as a positive influence to
Soldiers in other units as well. I receive com-
ments regularly about how professional and
capable the Soldiers in this unit perform when
they are away from the company and this
comes from the choices each individual Soldier
makes on a daily basis about their conduct, their
honor, and their integrity. Never Quit!
Training: We
shifted focus a
bit this month
and decisively
started training
on MOS specific
tasks. This
serves as a chal-
lenge with mul-
tiple opportuni-
ties for training between JRTC and NTC the
competencies we must maintain as Soldiers
such as marksmanship, first aid proficiency, and
drivers training. We are work-
ing hard to balance all of the
training priorities so that each
Soldier has basic skills, MOS
proficiency, and additional
duties that make them a tre-
mendous asset to any unit in
the future. Through all of the
challenging and changing
priorities our main mis-
sion is to constantly make you
better and prepare you for your next step as
a Soldier. We will continue to do monthly
company level team building, challenging
events to build confidence and maintain our
warrior skills. This past month we partici-
pated in a one day Medical Simulation Train-
ing that assisted Soldiers in brushing up on
combat lifesaver skills and put them in situa-
tions that were unfamiliar and unprepared
for in order to serve as a baseline for direct-
ing future training. When you know what
you don’t know it opens the door for learn-
ing.
This past month we also were able to train
on intelligence equipment and practice
some of our basic abilities. Intel systems
management, Trojan training, Prophet train-
ing, UAV fights, and Biometrics training
were just a few of the things that we did.
What is Next: This month we have a Battal-
ion Change of Command where LTC Calkins
will be transitioning on 24 August. On the
30th of this month we have Water Survival
Make up, Safety Stand Down Day, BRO Mo-
torcycle Ride, and the leaders will be briefing
the new Battalion Commander on the com-
pany– one busy day! Check out the back
page for more events.

was reassigned to HHC as the NCOIC
of the S2 shop. We will miss him dearly
and continue to feed off the enthusi-
asm he displayed while serving in the
platoon. Also, SGT Caruso has decided
to finalize his active duty career and serve
in the active-

good friend and
leader. Good
luck to both of
you in all future
endeavors. SGT Fears has graduated
from Drill Sergeant School, and is soon to
return. We are all very proud of her and
hear that SGT Fears displayed great per-

pain toward completion. Words cannot
describe how proud we are to call SGT
Fears one of our own. On 10 July 12,

HUMINT Platoon
On July 12th, the HUMINT Platoon actively par-ticipated in the 1 HBCT Devil Stakes. CW2 Davis, SSG Newland and SGT La-
polla were Observation Control cad-res for the SALUTE Report event. SPC Ransom performed as a Role player for the Intelligence Report event while SGT Bigorra was part of a team that took 1st place in by receiving
the highest cu-mulative score of both events. During that morning, SGT Millado, SGT Bigorra, SPC Marketon-Snowden, and PFC Ingram partici-pated in Water Survival Training at Long Gym while SPC Vassalli was
certified prior to become one of the life guards during this training ensuring the safety of the partici-pants. On 18 July, SPC Jennings gave birth to a healthy baby boy
and the HUMINT Platoon wel-comed a new addi-tion. During 24-27 July, the HUMINT Platoon initiated Ava-tar training at the
Intelligence Readiness Facility focusing on de-briefing techniques. On 27 July, SPC Ransom, SPC Vassalli and PFC
Ingram suc-cessfully com-pleted a two week Combat-ives Level II c e r t i f i c a t i o n training. Fi-
nally, beginning 30 July continuing through the
beginning of August, the HUMINT Pla-toon began BATS and HIIDES familiarization training to assist in future missions.
This month was a challenging one
for the UAS platoon. With our sol-
diers and NCOs being tasked left
and right we are making due; rely-
ing heavily on junior NCOs and sol-
diers to step up and make things
happen. SSG French is off represent-
ing the unit in JRTC while SGT
Prunty and SPC Williams are attend-
ing the very demanding Standardi-
zation course for UAS ops., in FT
Huachuca. Also SPC Strege is prepar-
ing for WLC in September.
The UAS pla-
toon continues
to train with
flight ops. three
times a week in
preparation for
our mission sup-
porting various
units on post
with fire mis-
sions and train-
ing observation, and we look for-
ward to the next few months of
training and missions. With the sol-
diers working so hard, 3rd platoon
took a platoon resiliency day which
was long overdue. Starting with a
nature area and BBQ and ending in
recreation education and various
games. We all had a good time and
took the opportunity to strengthen
our cohesion.
Lastly The UAS Platoon would like to
wish good luck to all our soldiers in
classes, and goodbye to our former
UAS maintainer SGT Gordon; He will
be missed.

NOTES from the TOP: 1SG Corner
For the month of July the Avengers have accomplished several tasks. The com-pany overcame the challenges of water survival training by jumping off the high dive blind folded and holding out an M4. During the BN Organizational Day the whole Battalion got together at Moon Lake to enjoy spending time with each other’s families. There were plenty of games and activities to do with the whole entire family. The com-pany went through the Army Substance Abuse Program and the Medical Simulator Training. On the company resiliency day the Avengers took their stealth and shooting accuracy to the test at the paintball range. There was some fierce competition and a great amount of fun trying to hit everyone on the course. As always, the individual platoons ac-complished their job specific training. The month of July has been an eventful month and now it is time for the par-ents to prepare their children for school. Alpha company continues to set a high standard, continue to do this by putting forth your best effort in eve-rything you do. 1SG Pete Olynick Avenger 7
