Nguyen The Trung DTT CEO
Introducing OIC and OIP-Internet of things platform.
Agenda
1. Internet of Things – the hype and the need
2. Introduction of OIC
3. Introduction of OIP
About me
• R&D Director on Hardware and Software Unified Communication project in Australia 1998-2000
• Established DTT in 2003:
– Leading in Enterprise Architecture and IT Master Plan consulting for Government and Enterprise
– Leading in Open Source E-government Platform & applications ( Da Nang, MOT, MOH, MOJ, Hai Phong … )
– Leading in STEM education in Vietnam
– Start the first open source platform for IOT: OIP
Our proposal for Vietnam National IoT Plan
1. Become regional IoT startup, attracting foreigner and Vietnamese entrepreneur
2. Work with global companies to build an open source platform to help speed up IoT applications
3. Encourage and invest in Defense and Agriculture IoT
First, about Internet of Things
Internet of Things is the new technology breakthrough in data collection, data processing , data analytic and integrated control different systems in all public domains to rapidly advancing national digital environment at the same time it can boost ICT industry.
We are under-hyping Internet of things
1. We're only using 1 per cent of all data 2. We're not getting the big picture by
focusing only on industries 3. We're forgetting about the B2B
opportunity 4. We're ignoring that "interoperability"
could be the new "synergy“ 5. We're underestimating the impact on
developing economies 6. We're forgetting about the new
business models that will be created

Open Interconnect Vision
• Secure and reliable device discovery and connectivity across multiple OSs, platforms, and technologies is a foundational capability to enable the Internet of Things
• Industry consolidation around a common interoperable approach, across all vertical markets, is essential to enable scale
• OIC will ensure this “network of everything” becomes a reality by…
– Delivering an industry standard specification & certification program
– Enabling developers and manufacturers via an open source project
– Taking an inclusive approach that embraces and provides interoperability across existing technologies
– Ensuring an approach to IPR that reduced friction in the market

Intelligent city (IC) platform
OIP’s benefits
• A platform solution for enterprise IoT integration
– The integration of devices
– The integration of IoT applications and systems
• Fast and efficient development of IoT solutions for different application domains (e.g., Smart home, Smart City, Intelligent Transportation, etc.)
– OIP’s Core System Services support development of services and applications in any application domain (e.g., Data analysis)
– OIP’s Common Business Services support development of services and applications in specific application domains (e.g., Image object detection and recognition)
– OIP’s Application Tools that are ready for use and customizable for specific needs (e.g., Device management and monitoring tools)
• An Architectural reference model of enterprise IoT system
• IoT standards awareness and compatibility
– OIC specification (with IoTivity framework)
31
OIP Advantages
• Compatible and Interoperable with OIC
• Support the collection of data from devices
• Support the management of the big data collected from devices and derived from the big data analytics
• Support the analytics of big data (i.e., including also spatial data) – Real-time data analytics

• Support the data access control and the data exchange management
• Support the operation with a cloud infrastructure
• Support the integration with related IoT systems (i.e., through OIP’s Interface Engine Services)
32
DTT OIP plan
• DTT OIP version 1.0 plan to release as Open Source platform to the public in early 2016 and it will support Intel IoT technologies. Currently a OIP 0.5 is ready.
OIP community
DTT would like to get government agencies in charge of ICT, ITS, Science and Technology and SHTP support to initiate, participate and grow OIP open source community starting in 2016.

Conclusion
• We need to know how to fish, not just a fish.
• We need to WORK TOGETHER in order not to be late. We can leverage Global Movement on Open Source IoT, just need to work hard and effective.
• SHTP is a great example to make not just a Smart City but also an Open Smart City that can be a platform to expand to Ho Chi Minh city and for the whole country. We hope we can take this opportunity together.
Thank you!
