Television – Good and Bad Programes

• Good Programes

• Humorous/Sit Com

• Television News

• Bad Programes

• Soap Opera

• Reality-shows or talk-shows

Television News

• - TV journalism is the professional practice of journalism applied to television.

• - TV news are programs that disseminate news of the most varied types, using images, sounds and narration by a reporter (flash news in important cases disrupt other programs).

• - People have the necessity to know more and this is one of the great advantages of TV news, transmit information about everything you can imagine;

• - Transmit us culture and knowledge from all over the world, it’s something important for us.

Humorous/Sit Com

• - Sitcom, abbreviation of the English expression situation comedy, is used to designate a television series with common characters where there are one or more humor stories;

• - The situation comedy appeared in United Kingdom, in the golden age of radio, but today are a critical piece of programming;

• - Are programs that we like to watch, because it relaxes us, entertains us, and we can always drop a good laugh, or alone, or with friends or family.

Soap Opera

• - The Soap Opera is a fictional story developed for presentation on television. It has the characteristic of being divided into chapters, in which the following is a continuation of the previous one;

• - In the U.S., the soap opera called soap opera because the first productions in the 1960, were sponsored by manufacturers of soap;

• - Portuguese soap opera takes place in Prime Time , which embraces the period from the 9 to 11 pm;

• - It might be something interesting to see and too nice, but it does not actually gives us any culture.

Reality Show

• Reality show is a type of television program based in real life. We can talk about reality show whenever the events it portrayed to be a figment of reality with real people.

• The first reality show, as defined today, was the series An American Family, broadcast in twelve parts in 1973, in the United States.

• In 2002, came the greatest exponent of this genre in Brazil, the Big Brother Brazil

• In Portugal, we have the “Casa dos Segredos” and Big Brother.

These are two bad examples of reality shows that exist in Portugal: “Casa dos Segredos” and Big Brother.

This type of programs don’t have any culture and don’t teaches us about nothing (all have lack of culture);

The people who go there, they just want fame, whether good or bad, they just want attention and often don't even know how;

In my opinion, these two programs, place in Portugal the tag of “Snoopy" and “Naive" because we don't seem to have a own life, this "characters“ represents our life.

These are two good examples of reality shows that exist in Portugal: “Peso Pesado” and “Factor X”;

This kind of programme encourages into something positive for society, because everyone have something good;

The “Peso Pesado” promotes good nutrition and help people without self-esteem to lose weight and struggling for goals;

The “Factor X” trying to find talent in young people, who have the dream of singing for a large audience.
