How are performance and mise-en-scene used to create meaning for an audience in an extract from Chapter 10 of ‘The Godfather’ (Coppola, 1972)?

1) I said - Confident explanation of how micro-elements combine to create meaning including insights on wider symbolism and alternative interpretations.

2) Moderator said - Candidate’s analysis of the mise-en-scene and performance in an extract from ‘The Godfather’ demonstrates an excellent knowledge and understanding of how micro features make meaning and includes a confident personal response. The interaction between film and spectator is suitably addressed.

2) I said - A sound recognition of relevant micro features, identified with great regularity. Many attempts are made to explain impact upon the audience, however these points are often underdeveloped and argument lacks sophistication.
