Overview :-

NFC is one of the latest short-range high frequency wireless communication technology that enables simple and safe exchange of data between devices over a 10 cm distance.

NFC-enabled devices can simply point or touch their making application and data usage easy and convenient.

History :-

NFC is based on RFID technology that uses magnetic field induction to enable communication between electronic devices in close proximity.

For two devices (initiator/target) to communicate using NFC, one device must have an NFC reader/writer and one must have an NFC tag. The tag is essentially an integrated circuit containing data, connected to an antenna, that can be read and written by the reader.

NFC operates at 13.56 Mhz. Maximum transfer bit rate of 800kbps. No special software is required.

Active Modes :- In this mode, both devices with NFC

chip can generate an electromagnetic field and exchange information with each other.

In this mode, both devices typically have their own power supplies.

Types of Modes :-

Passive Mode :- A passive device, such as an NFC tag, contains information that other devices can read but does not read any information itself, so there is only one active user.

In this mode, the target device may draw its operating power from the initiator provided electromagnetic field.

Application of NFC :-

TOUCH AND GO :- Application such as access control, where the user needs only to bring the device storing the ticket or access code close to the reader.

TOUCH AND CONEECT :- Linking two NFC-enabled devices to enable peer-to-peer transfer of data.

A latest development is that NFC can be used to configure Wi-Fi networks through mobile devices.

Application of NFC :-

High convenience to the user, because exchanging of information is done just by bringing it together.

Secure communication. No special software. No search and pair procedure.

Advantages of NFC

NFC has the limitation that it can be work operate only in shorter range around 10 cm.

Data Corruption Theft.

Disadvantages of NFC

Mobile handsets are the primary target for NFC and soon NFC will be implemented in most handheld devices.

The NFC technology enables the end users to make payments with their mobile wallet accounts.

NFC uses for advancements in mobile wireless technology.
