•  Launched  in  October  2010  •  Rapidly  gained  popularity,  with  over  100  million  acHve  users  as  of  April  2012  

•  By  May  2012,  a  new  user  account  was  created  and  58  photos  were  uploaded  each  second,  taking  the  total  number  of  photos  uploaded  to  over  1  billion

•  Eventually  added  support  for  Android  and  recently  created  a  website  

•  Works  in  conjuncHon  with  other  apps  on  iPhone,  iPad,  and  Mac

•  Enables  users  to  take  pictures  and  videos,  apply  digital  filters  to  them,  and  share  them  on  a  variety  of  social  networking  services,  such  as  Facebook,  TwiVer,  Tumblr  and  Flickr

•  January  2012-­‐11.7  million  unique  users,  making  it  the  fastest  site  in  history  to  break  through  the  10  million  unique  visitor  mark  

•  Became  the  third  largest  social  network  in  the  US  in  March  2012,  behind  Facebook  and  TwiVer
