FLEX STOOLTARGET: design a stool that accomodates a growing population

with limited space while maintaining economical efficiency

How can classic seating products be re-designed to accomodate a growing population with limited space?

Nearly 30% of Americans live in apartments or small homes with an average of 1000 square feet or less of living space...

completely collapsible and stowable

reduce or eliminate need for additional hardware

limit material variation to reduce production cost

DESIGN PARAMETERS

The flex stool is created from a single sheet of low density polyethylene which allows for significant flexability while maintaining excellent strength and support. Flex folds completely flat for convenient storage in limited space and has no hinges or fasteners.

UNDERSTANDING WASTE EVALUATING CONSUMERISM

“Waste is never fully reclaimable. It always re-quires additional effort or waste of some kind to be re-purposed.” -Derek Linford

“Most resources are wasted- they are not used to their greatest possible poettential.”

-Judy Brunson

“Time is the greatest source of waste in the average person’s life.” -Patrick Asay

THE ENLIGHTENED ACTIVIST heightened sense of awareness proactively recycling minimalism lifestyle consistent actively involved forward thinking innovative

what kinds of products could an enlightened activist use to further reduce waste?

How can you squeeze every last drop of effeciency out of a product before it is discarded?

Does using a product in multiple ways increase or decrease its value and life expectancy?

How can you take a product that is discarded when its primary function is useless and give it additional value?

MULTIPURPOSE

Simply lift the zipper cover and unzip various sections of the shoe as desired

velcro strap prevents laces from interfering when converting
