Message from our Exalted Ruler
Mike Leon
First Lady Sally and I pray that you enjoyed a Happy Thanks-giving! As for us, this year marked the 25th co-chairing of the Pismo Police Officers’ Association’s Community Thanks-giving Dinner that fed over 3,000 citizens. “Elks Care, Elks Share” goes beyond our Lodge throughout the year; “Frosty” serves Meals on Wheels, Margaret Walker works with Altrusa and Warren Addison facilitates the Pismo Beach Veterans Memorial Day event. As for Christmas, we recall the star that guided three Wise men to the Christ child. As Elks, we also have a star to guide us. It is the fixed star that shines above our altar and is emblematic of Fidelity. Fidelity reminds us of our Obliga-tion to our order, our lodge, and most importantly, to our-selves. As ER, it is my duty to preside with impartiality and support decisions that are in the best interests of the Lodge and its members. I have encouraged our Directors to think outside the box and to take risks. Many have. Some have been hurt; all have learned that we grow by change, not by chance. Their innovative ideas are moving our Lodge for-ward in a positive way. Sometimes, however, that means change. And how we deal with change defines us. As au-thor Alden Nolan states “the day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives them, he becomes an adult; the day he forgives himself, he becomes wise.” Like Wise men, each of us have followed something which led us to become Elks and members of this Lodge. Like the Magi, many have brought gifts - precious gifts of time, tal-ents, and tithes. We experiment, try new things, and some-times make mistakes. THANK YOU for trusting yourself and trying. And, don’t fret because most things are not that significant. Most of what you hear in not fact, merely infor-mation. So, you are right to question, and, if necessary, take a breather. Most importantly, be good to yourself. Find your passion and share it in Elk friendships. And may God continue to bless you as you love, guide, and support us. Please volunteer, especially with meals! With-out new teams of kitchen volunteers, we may have to drop some of our Lodge brunches and dinners. We need you. We need each other. For Together, Elks Achieve More (T.E.A.M.) Merry Christmas! Fraternally, Mike Leon, Exalter Ruler

Happy Holidays to all our members! Our Leading Knight challenge that benefits our Major Project kicked off with a bang. Our wine tasting event was a great time and donations of more than $800 were allocated to the Charity. The Purple Pig bake sale saw another
$250 to the Pig. I want to thank everyone for coming out and sup-porting such a wonderful charity. This month we have a Zumba class on December 3rd. Come down for some fun and check out the great stuff in the silent auction. We will be having our annual New Years evening party on the 31st. Cocktail hour at 5:30 with heavy appetizers, music and dancing, with a champagne toast dur-ing the East Coast Ball drop in New York City. The cost will be $12. Look for the flyers announcing our upcoming “Pluck a Duck” event which will also be benefitting our Major Project. Thanks again to all our hard working volunteers that help make these events hap-pen.
From the Station of the ESTEEMED LEADNG KNIGHT
Tis the season for happiness and joy! We will cele-brating the season throughout the month with the Kids Christmas Party, the Tom and Jerry party and our tradi-tional Black Eyed Peas and Cornbread on New Years Day. Take some time out of your busy holiday schedule
