SANDIWAY PRIMARY SCHOOLNEWSLETTER
SANDFESTThank you for all your support at the weekend -‐ wasn’t Sandfest a wonderful occasion?! The music was fantas@c, the atmosphere was great fun and everyone’s enthusiasm was contagious! It was great to be part of such a suppor@ve team during the day. From 9am un@l 7pm (and some people on Sunday) many people worked hard for the school and children. MeLe tells me that about 70 people were involved with the organisa@on of the day -‐ it shows what we can do if we all work together!
The final bills are being processed and we are wai@ng for some of the sponsor money to come in, but it is looking like the school raised about £4000 during the day!
GREASE -‐ KEY STAGE 2 PRODUCTIONThe children and staff have been working very hard for the past few weeks to perform their version of ‘Grease’. It is wonderful to see over 120 children on stage and enjoying themselves. Tickets have been issued as fairly as possible to ensure that as many parents get the opportunity to watch the performance. We have not made a charge for the @ckets, but we will have a collec@on for any dona@ons to cover the cost of pu_ng on the event. Thank you, in advance, for your support.
ADDITIONAL STAFFING CHANGESFurther to NewsleLer 28, where I was able to inform you of the staffing changes that will come into place in September, the governors and I have recently appointed Mrs Vanessa Greenbury who will be working with Miss Jardine in Year 2. Mrs Greenbury will be replacing Mrs MaLhias as the Year 2 teacher at @mes when Miss Jardine will be undertaking her deputy Headteacher responsibili@es out of the class. Mrs Greenbury is already well known to the school as a regular supply teacher -‐ we warmly welcome her to our team.
YEAR 6 LEAVERSIt is always sad to say ‘goodbye’ to our Year 6 children at the end of the year. Many of these children have been coming to the school for seven years -‐ their voices and laughter have become part of the school in that @me. This year, the Year 6 have con@nued to represent the school with an amazing a_tude to learning and to themselves. We are very proud of each and every one. On behalf of all the staff and school governors, I would like to wish you all well as you begin the next important part of your journey. Don’t forget all the wonderful experiences that Sandiway has given you and please come back and visit -‐ we always like to know what
you are doing and you are always welcome to come back and see us.
For many families, it is also the end of an era as the oldest or only child passes through the doors for the final @me. We would like to say a very fond farewell and many thanks to the following families: Barlow, Carolan, Clegg, Corless, Corradine, Cowen, DaviL-‐Bailey, Dimbylow, Dudley, Geary, Gooley, Johnstone, McCann, Nancollis, Roberts, Roberts, Wren, Young, Younis

SCHOOL LUNCHES/SNACKSPlease make sure that your lunch account is in credit by the end of term.
QUAD KIDSOn 8th July, our Year 5 and 6 Quad Kids team travelled to Macclesfield to compete in the Cheshire and Warrington Summer Games FesDval. The event was aLended by Olympic gymnast Craig Heap who the team met and had their T-‐Shirts signed by! They threw the Vortex in the driving rain, and then the weather began to lir as they competed in the 60m sprint. At the half way point we were in 2nd place -‐ only 5 points behind 1st. Next came the standing long jump, followed by the 600m. Personal bests were achieved by Ella, Alex, Emelia, Ben, Liam, Esme and Harry in the 600m. The team showed fantas@c support for each other and were superb ambassadors for both the school and Vale Royal. Arer a long wait for the results we found that we had won -‐ by 64 points! What a great way to end a phenomenal year of sport at Sandiway! (Mrs Dimbylow)
ROUND TOWERThe Round Tower is now complete! I have been in contact with CWaC over the past months reques@ng that our school be part of an opening ceremony for the community. This will take place in the first week of the holidays and will involve closing the road for a short @me while a group of representa@ve, including parents, children and staff from school, stand on the central reserva@on and ‘cut the ribbon’. This is confirmed for Monday 27th July at 10.30am. Members of the community are invited to watch the short ceremony -‐ the Local Authority and Police are working to ensure there is a safe viewing place. It would be wonderful to see our children and parents at this ceremony. If you know you are available at this @me, please speak to me as soon as possible and you may be one of the lucky few who could take part in the ceremony right next to the Round Tower.
SUMMER ACTIVITIES AND READING CHALLENGESDon’t forget we have a sports club (run by Mr Ault) and a tennis school (run by Jane) in our school (spaces sDll available) -‐ please see the Office for further details.
As in previous years, the libraries in Cheshire West are running their Summer Reading Challenge. This year the theme is connected with Record Breakers. Three events are being held across the Borough in an aLempt to become a record breaker. END OF THE SCHOOL YEARI would like to take this opportunity to thank all members of the school for another successful year. I con@nue to be impressed with how hard the children and staff work together to produce wonderful work, be it in books, singing on stage or represen@ng the school at spor@ng events. This would not be possible without your support as parents, carers and friends.
We break up on Tuesday 21st July and the children return to school on Wednesday 2nd September. We hope you have a wonderful summer holiday together.
