Tees Valley Combined Authority Ambition

Tees Valley will be a global leader in clean energy, low carbon industry and

hydrogen. The area will achieve a net zero carbon industrial cluster by 2040,

providing good jobs with long term prospects that local people can access.

This sits at the heart of our framework for growth.

COMPACT INTEGRATED CLUSTER

South Tees Development Corporation

Net Zero Teesside –World’s First Zero Carbon Industrial Hub by 2030

Decarbonised industrial hub

Dispatchable low carbon power from gas

Negative carbon electricity

OGCI chose Teesside over 55 other locations:

• Compact site

• Strong local political and industrial support

• Dispatchable power (CCGT + CCS) 1.7mtpa CO2

• Pure CO2 available as by-product from H2 and fertiliser plants (0.7mtpa)

• 3mtpa CO2 from bioenergy and power from waste plants – negative carbon electricity

• Spare capacity in hydrogen plant (0.2mtpa CO2)

• Existing H2 distribution system & Cavity Storage
