Each child was given a copy of a kangaroo. They were asked

to draw a baby kangaroo in the mother’s pouch. Afterwardsthey practiced their fine motor skills by cutting the

kangaroo out and glueing it on paper.

We reviewed the numbers 1 & 2 from last week, and then I

introduced the number 3. Each child was asked to go find any three

items they wanted from the room and bring them back to the

carpet where they counted each item.

Patterns: The children are loving learning about patterns. We are

working on the AB pattern (i.e. blue, red, blue, red, blue, red.) Igave each child two different color counters and they were to put

them in an AB pattern. Please continue to practice this at home.

I introduced the letter P and its sound. “Popping Popcorn,

Popping Popcorn /P/, /P/, /P/”. We added the following words

to our Word Wall: pumpkin, pickle, parrot, pizza, pink and

purple. We also practiced writing the letter P on the dry

erase board. 

Each week I will introduce a new book that we will read each day. I

start by introducing the title. This week’s book is: “What Do You Do

With A Kangaroo”? I then have someone come up and point to the

title of the book. Then I state the author’s and illustrators'

name(s.) We are learning the difference between the two. Next we

take a picture walk. Here I just turn the pages while the children

try to guess what the story is about.. After all the pages are turned

I write down everyone’s predictions, and then I read the story aloud.After I read we compare the predictions to the actual story.

We learned about the letters S & B and their sounds. We learned to recognize the number 1 & 2.

We worked on patterns. I introduced rhyming words to the children (cat, sat, mat, fat and ran,

man, tan, Dan. Ask the children to tell you some words that rhyme. We also read The Very Quiet

Cricket by Eric Carle. We learned that only boy crickets make sounds. Ask your child which cricket

makes a sounds and why.
