#1 “Give me five”

• Call out “give me five” and hold up one hand with all fingers up this means:

#2 Attention Grabbers

1.Teacher says “bada ba ba baaa” Students respond “I’m lovin’ it”2. Teacher says “Red Robin” Students respond “yummm”3. Teacher says “alright stop” Students respond “collaborate and listen”4. Teacher says “like a good neighbor” Students respond “State Farm is there”

# 3 Behavior Chart

• Students start each day on green• When students show positive behavior they clip up, or if they makepoor choices they clip down• Teachers can determine prizes or give stars to those who reach “Outst-anding”• A very modifiable behavior plan

#4 Noise Control

• When the class is working hard they can earn points and more recess time, but if they are noisy the teacher earns points. If the students have more points

than the teacher they receive that many more recess minutes.

#5 Name calling sticks

• Put all students names on popsicle sticks• When you need student volunteers you can

pull sticks out of a jar• Trick, put a smaller tube in the center of the

jar for the students you have called on• This way students who have been called on

will still pay attention because their stick went back in the jar and you know who hasn’t been called on yet

#6 Job Chart

• Give each student a job for the week• Jobs can vary per class• Quick way to teach students how to be accountable

#7 Classroom Boggle

• When students finish an assignment early they can play Boggle

• All the teacher needs to do is change out the letters every so often.

#8 Classroom Rules

• Create the class rules together so that students can take some ownership in them

• Try to limit the number of rules • Post the rules for the class to see and have

everyone sign it• If possible shrink the rules down, laminate and

give one to each student to keep at their desk

#9 Hand signals

• Students hold up fingers that show what they need instead of interrupting a lesson

#10 Posting Daily Schedule

• It can be very helpful for students to be able to see what they will be doing each day

• You can create picture or word cards that can be easily changed each morning
