Front Cover Production Work

Above is the image that will be the base of my front cover.

When adding the masthead, I first inserted it using the text tool on the left side of the page. I then changed the

font and added a drop shadow effect to make it stand out.

I then added the positioning statement, price and issue information. Again, I used the text tool to

do this.

After this, using my sketch of my front cover I added the coverlines. The majority of these are band names to

appeal to the widest possible audience.

Next, I added sublines explaining what every article was about. I add this text the same way I added all of the

other text on the front cover, using the text tool.

The main coverline was added, this anchors the image. It is the second biggest text on the page.

Then, the subline for the main coverline was added describing what the article would ultimately be about.

I added a ‘plus bar’ to the bottom of the page. This will hold more band names to appeal to a wider audience.

I used my audience research to help decide on the bands that I would include in my ‘plus bar’.

Once the rest of the magazine cover was completed, all that was left to so was add a barcode. I added mine to the

bottom, left corner. This is a common position for barcodes on magazines.
