That’s one less than the number of Academy Awards that Lord of the Rings won in 2003. 5000 Is the most trees that I planted in one day. My partner and I split a 10,000 tree block somewhere near Grand Cache. It took us 15 hours - it still hurts thinking about it. Twenty Six Hundred In the past 1.5 years, I’ve been building digital communities and carefully implementing integrated brand building strategies. My personal network includes 2600 professionals, friends and marketing leaders. 20 + 5 - 4 + 10 + 10 41. That’s my Klout Score. Klout is becoming a standard of social influence. While it has some issues, Klout says I’m influential about Marketing, Branding, Social Media and Business in Calgary. I’m influenced by Mitch Joel, Seth Godin, Simon Sinek, Chris Brogan, Avinash Kaushik and Gary Vaynerchuk. ELEVEN?! Well, it’s one louder isn’t it? Eleven is also the number of times I’ve given presentations or taught groups of people this year. In 2012, I’m an instructor at Mount Royal University for their Social Media for Business certificate. A S H O R T S T O R Y A B O U T M A R C My 13 Year Career in Sales & Marketing... ...started at the University of Guelph. I grew up wanting to follow in my grandfather’s footsteps to become a doctor so that I could help people. At Guelph, I enrolled in Biological Science and received an honors degree for learning about the biology of communication. When I Started in the “Real World” I began my career in Pharmaceutical Sales with Novartis. I spent 8 years working in high perform- ance teams. Our objective: to educate GPs and Car- diovascular Specialists on the benefits of Novartis’ products. Our group’s mandate was to form strate- gic institutional partnerships, build corporate alli- ances with local thought leaders and ultimately influence the medical community to increase usage of Novartis products. In 8 years, I learned about the importance of leadership in communication. Driven by the Entrepreneurial Spirit I left pharmaceuticals in search of a more concrete and measurable sales & marketing transactions. I moved from Ontario to Alberta in 2005 to join The Rogers Radio Group as an Account Manager. Using a variety of business development techniques from cold calling to digital prospecting, I grew my list from $350K to $900K in five years. In the process, I learned how to create and differentiate a brand. Why you would like to meet with me The greatest partnerships begin with a handshake. I’ve been lucky enough to have 3, once in a lifetime trips. I’ve traveled to 129 places so far in my life. My bucket list includes New Zealand, Argentina and Croatia. I live in Calgary, AB.
