BackhoeA piece of excavating equipment that consists of a digging bucket on the end of an extending arm. The bucket can vary in size depending on the job needed. This bucket measures 4’ across and is being used to dig a ditch.

Batter Boards•Made of wood (typically) these boards are nailed together in correlation with plumb bobs to show a building’s outline.•Establish the building’s outline, staying 4’ away from estimated dimension to allow for excavation.

Gypsum BoardAn interior facing panel consisting of a gypsum core sandwiched between paper faces. Gypsum is very resistant to fire.

Heat PumpCompressor – pulls air in from outdoors and pumps into the air handling unit

Air Handling Unit – Sends air through vents to heat/cool house

An advantage is it’s ability to rapidly heat or cool house. A disadvantage is that it is noisy.

OSBHome Depot was on the lookout, so I had to be sneaky.OSB is a non veneered wood product that is manufactured by orienting strands in perpendicular layers followed by random end layers, glued together, and put under immense pressure which give OSB it’s strength.

RebarThis is ½” rebar and would therefore be referred to as #4 rebar.

The purpose for the deformations in the surface of the rebar is so that it adheres to the concrete surrounding it.

This is an inward swinging hopper window because it has its hinges on the bottom and swings in but doesn’t allow water in.

This is a double hung window, because both panes (top and bottom) are free to slide up and down.

WindowsThis is an out swinging awning window because the hinges are on top of the window to allow it to swing outward over an awning.
