2. Eight Truths The Eight Truths defined here have been distilled through; observation over 30 years, of the behaviours and attitudes people display in the workplace and social situations; and investigation into the factors that drive people. From these observations and investigations these Eight Truths have emerged as an answer to the question How do we get what we want out of life? It is our personal relationship to these Eight Truths that determine whether we get what we really want and lead the life we really want to lead.1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.Life is change. You live in your outer shell, you drive from your inner core. The brain is programmed to protect you. Nobody can do it for you, you cant do it all on your own. Its probably happened before. When we have to make decisions We all reach points in our lives when we have to make difficult decisions or choices and are not sure what to do. It is our relationship to these Eight Truths that determines how we make our decisions and choices. I hope this will help you tap into your own resources when you reach a decision point and are not sure how to move forward. 4. Truths 1-4 1. Life is Change When the world is changing around you, your role in the world changes with it. There is no such thing as standing still. If you cannot adapt change happens to you and you lose control. Today we have to deal with more change more quickly than any other generation. Dealing with change can be one of the most challenging things we ever have to learn. 3. Your brain is programmed to protect you: Your brain has evolved to protect you; physically and mentally. We recognise the fight or flight reaction to physically threatening situations but our inner core of beliefs and values can also be threatened. Your brain tries to protect the beliefs and values that you have developed over a lifetime. Your brain protects them in the best way it can; by warning you, through your emotions, when they are being threatened.2. You live in your outer shell, you drive from your inner core: We all have a face we show to the world, our outer shell. Our beliefs and values reside in our inner core. If the life we live in our outer shell becomes disconnected to the beliefs and values we hold in our Inner core, somethings going to give; and if the life we live in our outer shell is not in line with the beliefs and values we hold in our core we will never give 100% of ourselves to what we do. 4. Nobody can do it for you, you cant do it on your own: You cannot achieve your dreams and ambitions on your own whatever they may be. The fact that it is a dream or an ambition means that you are not yet what you want to be or you dont yet have what you want to have. This means that you have to acquire more: more skill, more money, more customers, more followers, more understanding. Only when you recognise that you need others to help you get to where you want to go will you be able to release the full potential that you have. 5. Truths 5-8 5. Its probably happened before: Whatever youre going through or trying to do the chances are it has happened before or been experienced by someone, somewhere, sometime. In todays connected world it is easier than ever before to learn from the experiences of the people that have gone before you.7. We live in an abundant world: Believing in abundance means you understand that there is enough of anything that you could possibly want, to help you achieve your ambition in life AND that there is enough desire and need in the world to want what you have to offer. Whether you are a can do or cant do sort of person comes from your relationship with the idea of abundance. The opposite of abundance is scarcity. A belief in scarcity leads to a defensive and protective approach to life; a belief in an abundance leads to openness and sharing.6. Relaxed Awareness is the key: A relaxed approach opens the door to whatever course you want to take. There is a difference between being relaxed and switching off. Relaxation is not sitting in front of the TV with a glass of wine, box of chocolates or whatever is your fancy. It is a state of mind that helps you to put aside the worries and cares that drive your thoughts and actions and allows you to create calm space for your brain to work at what it does best: Looking after you.8. You have to be able to say I Want..: You cannot get what you want if you cant tell yourself and others what it is. This might sound obvious but many, if not most people, find it difficult. It is only when you are clear about what you want for yourself that you can explain to others. If you cant ask for what you want in a clear, precise and authorative manner then your chances of getting it are slim . 6. The pages that follow use quotations to illustrate the Eight Truths. We like quotations because they show us that other people have faced the same issues that we all face at some time: that they have put their minds and resourcefulness to finding a solution and that in many cases the issues and quandaries we face have been around for hundreds if not thousands of years. Quotations can help us feel that we are not alone and that there is a way through. 7. 1.Life is change. If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. We live in an abundant worldThe world is full of abundance and opportunity, but far too many people come to the fountain of life with a sieve, instead of a tanka teaspoon instead of a steam shovel. They expect little and as a result they get little.People with a scarcity mentality tend to see everything in terms of win-lose. There is only so much; and if someone else has it, that means there will be less for me. .... the more we develop an abundance mentality, the more we are genuinely happy for the successes, wellbeing, achievements, recognition, and good fortune of other people. We believe their success adds torather than detracts fromour lives.Be
