Title : Split Identity Between Social Media & Real Life

Abstract :

Identity – how we perceive and make sense of each other – is fundamental to all social interaction and to the construction of our society and culture. People want to know about others’ beliefs, affiliations, and intentions in order to interpret their words and actions and to predict their future behavior. These qualities are not directly observable; instead, others see external manifestations, or signals, of one’s internal state.

Over the past couple years social network’s popularity has grown greatly among teenagers and students. Social networking websites such as myspace, facebook, and twitter allow the teenagers to view their friends’ profile page, pictures, and activities. This phenomenon is loved by many youth because it gives them an outlet to express themselves as individuals and maybe take on different persona than in real life.

Social media has afforded us a unique opportunity to build a very visible, permanent record of ourselves, albeit through a digital medium. It is, in a way (though many may argue against it), re-inventing the notion of identity, with far-reaching consequences. Not only is it providing the very tools to (re)create our identities, but it is also speaking to an innate human fear. That we’ll be forgotten by others and that our own memories will begin to fade, changing the person that we are. Throw Facebook into the mix however, and our problems seem to be solved. Here is a summation of our lives to this date, for as much as we want to share. And remember that we are just at the beginning since it’s a record of our identity for as long as social media has existed.

ANALYSIS & CRITICALITY

• The  things that i can summarize is the lack of public service announcement ads regarding this “another life” issue, which is nowdays social network life should have their own enactment or law that lies under respective goverment in the country.

• This research shows the results how interactive installation ads can play their role of persuading people of this issue.

• In this case, interactive installation ads will be use to persuade people to interact with the installation . It will show how the method used gives an impact to people. How advertising and installation play their role to persuade people through interactivity.

• The idea is to create an interactive and creative project regarding social media awareness project about the important of identity privacy in social network. After been through all the survey, data collections and some materials. I have been decided to create a creative project which looks like a “sarcasm” message to all the social network users out there.

FIRST PROJECT

First, the project comes with a simple ways as “Login” the social networks. Looks like very common to

people out there, but there is a unique output that can be achieve side of this project. Here is some brief

and graphical step regarding this first project :

• 1) Identify the Social Media platform that will be use.• 2) Create an account to the all social media platform that have been choose with ONLY one

username and password.• 3) Create a fanpage or any other ways for make public aware about this project and the most

important is to make the participate with this project.• 4) Decide one period/time/date to run this project after get enough participant to run this project.• 5) Ask them to login all the social media network that have been choosen in that particular period.• 6) This is the most exciting step, which all people can do anything at the particular social network

platform with only one username and password to the lowest privacy level.• 7) Just record the data change constantly at the respective social network platform.• 8) Once the period end, do expose the data to the public and turn the page into the high privacy level.• 9) Keep the respective social media platform at the high privacy level until comes to the new

upcoming period.• 10) Lastly, if this projects looks successful, there will be an annual remarkable date to launch back
