UJ encourages a balanced

lifestyle for its students – it is

not all work and no play... UJ

has a lot more to offer than

just academic excellence!

UJ has 4 campuses spread throughout the City of Gold.

Over 200 programmes ranging from certificates to diplomas, degrees, postgraduate degrees and short courses – loads of options that make UJ truly accessible.

How to APPLY Determine your Admission Point Score

(APS) based on your subjects and marks per subject. Please consult the UJ Prospectus online

at www.uj.ac.za for the total APS and subject requirements for your specific programme.

See how to determine your APS on the pages to follow.

Apply ON TIMEApplications open on 1 April and the closing date for applications is 27 September at 12:00.

Look after YOUR BODY

UJ Sport caters to those wanting

to forge a career in sports, as well as those who want to actively

participate in sport from a social-recreational,

competitive and high performance

level. With more than 32 sporting categories

to choose from you can participate in a sporting code that satisfies your

needs, interests and abilities. UJ Sport also has a Biokinetic Clinic on the Bunting Road

Campus.

Attend a UJ OPEN DAY!

UJ hosts Mini Open Days that showcase UJ’s academic and student

life offerings throughout the year for Grade 11 and 12s. A special Open Day is hosted for top achievers.

Learners, parents, schools and teachers wanting to attend must visit www.

future.UJ.mobi to view the calendar. Booking for the

Mini Open Days is essential and proof of booking will need to be presented on

the event day.

GRADE 11 Marks

Get the best possible marks you can in Grade 11 to

ensure you are conditionally accepted when applying in

Grade 12. Full acceptance will be based on your final Grade

12 marks. Please note, UJ only has a certain number of

spaces available for first-year applicants and only the best learners will be selected

to attend UJ. Meeting the minimum requirements and

being conditionally accepted will not guarantee you

a place at UJ.

Fill in your APPLICATIONFill in your UJ application form either online (no application fee) or download the application form and post or submit a paperbased application at a UJ Student Enrolment Centre on any one of the campuses. Should you apply for accommodation, the proof of payment of a R1 220 deposit must accompany your application. Please note that UJ is entitled to request applicants currently in Grade 12 to provide certified copies of final Grade 11 results together with all other relevant documents for verification and auditing purposes.

Through integrating coursework at the University and practicum at schools the Faculty creates learning opportunities for student-teachers to acquire¡ a thorough understanding of learning and development in

childhood/adolescence¡ sound subject knowledge¡ an understanding of contextual factors that impact learning

and schooling¡ an appreciation of the demands of the teaching profession¡ a repertoire of teaching strategies and skills¡ a reflective stance towards teaching.

The primary school teacher education programmes are unique in the country. The coursework is integrated with practical experience over four years in the UJ founded, Funda UJabule School. At this school, which is situated on the Soweto campus, students observe how children learn and develop, they work closely with teachers and they are mentored by the teachers.

degree purposes. ¡ Minimum APS of 26, excluding Life Orientation.¡ A Bachelor’s degree endorsement (the minimum entry requirements

to study towards a degree) does not guarantee admission to the BEd. ¡ Preliminary admission is based on the results obtained in the final

Grade 11 examination. Final admission is based on the final Grade 12 results.

Admission requirements: National Certificate (vocational) (NVC)Subject to institutional admission requirements, the minimum admission requirement to Bachelor’s degree programme is a National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 issued by the Council for General and Further Education and Training. The minimum legislative requirements for admission to a Bachelors’ degree include the achievement of:
