Adult Discipleship
Ba@ling Complacency
In the Minor Prophets study just completed by
the Tuesday Night Bible Study Group we were
reminded of the following:
“The key to knowing God is to con/nually seek
Him. The chief danger in this quest is the
tempta/on to be sa/sfied with past encounters so
that no fresh pursuits are made. Complacency is the
enemy of spiritual growth.”
If you are feeling complacent in your spiritual
growth and looking for a place to plug in with a group of folks that are waging war against
spiritual complacency the Tuesday Night group would love to have you join them. They will be
starng an eight week study on May 24th by Andy Stanley entled Star/ng Point that is
described by the publisher as follows:
Everything has a star/ng point - your life, your rela/onships, your educa/on, your career.
Some/mes we forget that faith has a star/ng point as well. For some of us, our faith journeys
began in childhood as a set of beliefs handed to us by a parent, teacher, or pastor. Maybe you
developed a framework of faith based on personal experience. Or maybe you had no faith at all.
Too o:en, a faith formed in childhood isn't strong enough to withstand the pressures of adult
life.
But what if you could find a new star/ng point for faith?
Welcome to Star/ng Point – an 8-session small group conversa/on about faith. Whether you're
new to faith, curious about God, or coming back to church a:er some /me away, it's a place
where your opinions and beliefs are valued, and no ques/on is off limits.
During the eight sessions, you will:
Use this Star/ng Point Conversa/on Guide to reflect on central ques/ons of faith and life.
Watch the video component each week in prepara/on or as part of the discussion.
Explore and share what you're learning with other people in a conversa/onal
environment.
Come as you are and build rela/onships with others as you discover your star/ng point.
We meet at Heritage from 7:00 – 8:30 PM on Tuesday nights. Contact John Hall with quesons
tel 913-897-3179 or [email protected] or to order a book (cost approximately $10).
For a light

from 12:30-2:00
June 7, June 21, July 12, July 26 and Aug 9.
We will be reading "The Day I Met Jesus, The Revealing Diaries of Five Women from the
Gospels". "Join Frank Viola and Mary DeMuth on a fascinang journey back in me as they
retell the dramac accounts of five women who met Jesus. Each narrave is told from each
woman's unique perspecve, yet ghtly grounded in the Gospel accounts and faithful to
first-century history. Elegantly wriJen and profoundly srring, this book blends creave
narrave with uncommon insight, spiritual depth, and praccal applicaon. "
Each chapter stands alone so there is no pressure if you miss a class. All are welcome to
aJend. Contact Jenny Hallam, [email protected], if interested in joining this small group.

To make the outreach work best, we need around 30 volunteers who will

dozen boJles of water and a bag of ice each me you have duty. The water and ice can be provided by
you or raided from supplies that will be stored inside the church. Making your visit early in the day
would be best, but other opons could be workable.

invisible angels parcipang in this outreach program. Please express interest by Friday, May 27 so we
can arrange the calendar. A completed calendar will be available and posted for the ministry
volunteers for any trading or conflicts.
