Dear friends,
As we come nearer Holy Week, anxiety is growing across the world in the face of the spread of the coronavirus. At CTK and St. Stephen and around the world, it seems that for the first time we will probably spend-ing Holy Week and the Easter celebration without our faithful. We con-tinue with our life of prayer and work “separated from all but united to all.”
Following Jesus leads us to an experience of conversion, of turning away from darkness and towards the light of the Risen One. Day by day, let us not be diverted by fears, an-ger, regrets, confusion, and the darkness that often claims to cover the whole world and to monopolize our attention. But let us remain united, deep within our hearts, to the source of peace that remains always beyond everything.
As containment measures and health precautions are increased to prevent contagion, let us take great care of the treasure of human relations. Let us keep in touch – through tele-phone calls and messages of friendship – with those who are isolated, and first and fore-most the oldest, the most fragile and those already affected by another illness or hard-ship. I am so thrilled and happy that some of our Vincentians have volunteered to help the less fortunate every day at CTK, while taking extreme care to protect themselves and the folks who come to them.
I thank you for your continued financial support of our church during this difficult time. We are deeply appreciative for those of you who are reaching out to keep up your regular contributions to our parishes and St. Vincent de Paul. We intend to continue to pay our staff, who are working remotely, and our bills for as long as possible. For now, with your urgently needed and appreciated help and our savings, it looks like we can keep this up through the end of May. If we are still under a shelter in place order, we will need to take added and more difficult steps to balance our income and expenses. We ask for your prayers and continue to offer our prayers for those most in need.
Fr. Paulson Mundanmani
Palm Sunday April 5, 2020
First Reading:
Isaiah 50:4-7
Chapters 40-55 of the Book of Isaiah contain the message of a prophet who spoke to God’s people during their exile in Babylon. Several times the prophet speaks about a servant who will one day deliver God’s people. Because the servant is portrayed as suffering, Christians have traditional-ly identified Jesus with this suffering servant.
Second Reading: Philippians 2:6-11
We have in this passage one of the most beautiful sections of Paul's letter to the Philippians. He wants the members of the community of Philip-pi to work harder at unity and humili-ty, and to teach this he quotes an ear-ly Christian hymn about Jesus.

A BEAUTIFUL IDEA FOR PALM SUNDAY How can we publicly acknowledge this important day on our calendar when so many of us will be behind closed doors? The Missionaries of the Holy Spirit posted this idea on their Facebook page:
What if everyone on Sunday April 5 in the morning, puts a branch on the door of their house or on the window, to celebrate Palm Sunday?
It could be any green branch you can get. This would help, despite the social distancing, to be connected as we enter into the Holiest of Weeks.
Want to join?
We may be physically isolated, but not separated. We are united as the body of Christ.
We are the Church. Yes, we are. We’ve got this. Let’s do it.
