Tim Langford took the reins as the CSU Head Men’s Track & Field Coach on August 1, 2003. During his tenure he has elevated the men’s program to a top tier program in the Big South Conference. Imme-diately, Langford went to work, showing his prow-ess as a recruiter by dou-bling his team size with his first recruiting class.

In addition to the increase in the quantity of perform-ers, the quality of performances has also improved. In his first two years, Langford compiled more than sixty conference-scoring performances. In fact, Langford’s athletes have broken every indoor sprint record from the 60 meters to the mile. Since Langford’s arrival, he has had 23 NCAA Regional qualifiers, two NCAA Na-tional qualifiers, two USA Junior National qualifiers and an Olympic Trials qualifier. In addition, he has had three Big South Male Track Athlete of the Year selec-tions, the 2007-08 Big South Indoor Track Freshman of the Year, and has been named the Big South Coach of the Year twice.

Before joining the CSU family, Coach Lang-ford spent two years at fellow Big South Conference member High Point University in High Point, North Carolina. As the Assistant Cross Country & Track & Field coach at High Point, Coach Langford helped the Panthers attain the first ever division I conference championship in cross country. Langford also helped lead the Panthers in attaining numerous individual conference champions and all-conference performanc-es; ranging from the sprints, jumps, and relays. In fact, Langford’s women’s 4x400 meter relay team never lost a conference championship while under his lead-ership. Langford’s athletes also set several Big South Conference meet records; the 4x400 meter relay, and women’s long jump to mention a few.

Langford went to High Point after spending a year at Heritage High School in Lynchburg, Virginia. There he coached several state qualifiers in the sprints and jumps. Langford had an easy transition into coach-ing. This is largely due to being able to coach at his

alma mater where he found comfort in the same sys-tem, and staff, from which he came.

Coach Langford has also experienced a suc-cessful athletic career. As an athlete at Radford Uni-versity, Coach Langford was the first Big South Con-ference Champion in Track & Field in school history. The 5’7” Langford set an indoor conference record in the high jump at 6’10.75”. He won all but one Outdoor Conference Championship in the high jump. Coach also set school records in the high jump, triple jump, 4 x 100m, and 4 x 400m. He scored conference points for the Highlanders in the high, long, and triple jumps, both sprint relays, and the 110m hurdles.

Langford married the former Lisa Holmes on Oct. 18, 2008 and the couple resides in North Charles-ton.

Tosha N. Ansley came to CSU during the 2001-02 school year, and has changed the CSU & Big South Conference record books. During Ansley’s time at CSU, her athletes have broken every indoor and outdoor sprint, hurdle, jump and throws record with the exception of the weight throw and short hurdles. She has had one NCAA All-East Regional selection, 10 East Regional Qualifiers and 18 East Regional qualifying performances. in 2008, Dionne Gibson earned USTFCCCA All-Amer-ican honors by posting the highest finish (15th) by any CSU athlete in school history at the national meet. Her 2009 4x100m relay team also holds the Big South all-time and championship meet record with a time of 45.42. Last year Gibson set the Big South all-time and Conference meet record with times of 23.54 and 23.68, respectively. Coach Ansley has had a two-time Big South Female Athlete of the Year in Dionne Gibson, the 2008 Big South Indoor Freshman of the Year in Canchettar Delamar, and the 2008 Outdoor Freshman of the Year, Misha Morris. She has had 28 Big South Conference Champions and over 70 All-Conference performances accredited. Her athletes are extremely talented in the classroom as well. Her team has re-ceived four CSU Most Improved Academic Awards, along with one Highest Team GPA Award and has had over 100 scholar athletes.

At the 2008 Big South Outdoor Championships, Ansley coached 21 athletes to all-conference honors and seven individual con-ference champions, one Big South Conference All time/Championship Meet Record in the 4x100m re-lay, as well as honors for Dionne Gibson (Most Out-standing Track Performer) & Misha Morris (Fresh-man of the Year). The second-place finish posted by the Lady Bucs was the best finish since Ansley’s fresh-man year at CSU & highest point total in CSU history (186 pts) earning her Coach of the Year honors.

Prior to returning to CSU, Ansley spent two years at Winthrop University as the men’s and women’s as-sistant Cross Country and Track & Field coach. At Winthrop, she coached sprints, hurdles, jumps and re-lays. During her time there, she coached 24 indoor/out-door school record-holders, 13 conference champions, 38 all-conference performers, and one Junior National qualifier, two Big South Conference Most Outstanding Track Athletes (men/women), one Men’s Track Ath-lete of the Year, 16 Big South Presidential Scholars, and four Dean’s List Scholars.

As a collegian, Ansley established herself as one of the top hurdlers and jumpers at Charleston Southern. She was an eight-time Big South Conference individu-al track and field champion, and earned all-conference honors during each of her four seasons. A four-time track and field team MVP and twice-selected Big South MVP in track, Ansley still holds several school records in indoor and outdoor track competition. On Oct. 27, 2006, she was inducted into the CSU Hall of Fame.

Ansley received her bachelor’s degree in physical education and psychology from Charleston Southern University in 1999. She is Level II certified in sprints, hurdles and relays, and a member of the South Caro-lina Coaches Association, USA Track and Field Asso-ciation & US Track Cross Country Coaches Associa-tion. She resides in Goose Creek, S.C.

Ryan Thompson joined the Charleston Southern coaching staff for the 2008-09 school year as the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Distance coach. During his time at CSU, Thompson has more than doubled the size of the women’s team, while drastically lowering the average times for both squads.

In 2009, the men’s cross country team posted the fourth-highest team GPA among NCAA Division I programs, earning the NCAA All-Academic Team distinction.

In his first season with the Bucs he coached Andrew King to a victory at the CCU Invita-tional Cross Country Meet, as well as a school record in the indoor mile.

Thompson’s teams have recorded numerous individual top-5 finishes in cross country and on the track, while setting five school records on the track. The points picked up by the dis-tance crew proved vital in the men’s runner-up team finish at the 2009-10 Big South Indoor

Championships.

Prior to coming to CSU, Thompson was the Assistant Men’s Cross Country Coach at the College of Charleston during 2007-08.

Thompson is a 2004 graduate of Mercer University with a B.A. in sociology. He was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Academic team in 2002 and 2003. Upon graduation, Thompson went on to earn his MPA in urban public affairs from the College of Charleston. The Auburn, Ala., native is married to the former Anna Guerin, and the couple is expecting their first child in April, 2011.

Josh Aydlette joined the CSU coaching staff for the 2004-05 season, joining women’s coach Tosha Ansley as former CSU star athletes now coaching at the school. Since he came to CSU, Aydlette’s throwers have earned Team MVP and Most-Improved awards and have been named All-Big South 25 times. Five different school records have fallen a total of 18 times under his watch. At the 2008 Big South Outdoor Championships, Aydlette’s throwers posted 54 points, including 28 points from Jocelyn Davis, who became the first thrower in CSU history to qualify for the NCAA Regionals. The Lady Bucs posted two all-conference athletes in the shot put to mark the first time CSU has had multiple all-conference throwers. Aydlette is no stranger to success in the sport, having been one of the more dominating throwers in school and Big South Conference history during his career. While at CSU, he went undefeated in the weight throw against Big South opponents, won five Big South Championships and was named Big South All-Conference 13 times. Aydlette holds two Big South records, three CSU school records, and was the CSU men’s track MVP in 2001.

After graduating from CSU, Aydlette coached two years at Roanoke College. While there, three athletes won conference titles, broke one conference record, and set five school records. A total of 19 all-conference awards in men’s and women’s were achieved under his tutelage. Aydlette still competes in track during the off-season. Last year he ranked 27th in the world amatuer rankings and placed 7th at the US Invite for National Championships in San Francisco at the 138th Pleasanton Games. He competes in the Highland Games and was invited to compete in the 2007 Amateur World Championships in Minneapolis, Minn. There, he placed sixth out of eight competitors from the U.S.A., Scotland and Canada. He had a competitive record of 7-3 in the games. When not throwing, Aydlette is an avid surfer, having the chance to surf on Hawaii’s hallowed North Shore during his honeymoon. Recently, Aydlette was featured on America Idol and had his picture published in US Weekly Magazine. He also works with local inner city high schools with at-risk youth as a Student Concerns Specialist.

professional curricula, including graduate and un-dergraduate degrees. The University, founded in 1964, is included on the John Templeton Founda-tion’s Honor Roll of Character-Building Colleges and was named one of America’s Best Christian Colleges. Affiliated with the South Carolina Bap-tist Convention, the University’s vision is inte-grating faith in learning, leading and serving. Charleston Southern has grown from 500 stu-dents to more than 3,000 students in its 46 years. Situated on 300 acres, the University is located in the center of the Charleston metropolitan area. Students take advantage of the cultural, histori-cal and recreational opportunities the city offers. The University is accredited by the Commis-sion on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Students can choose from 38 undergraduate majors and four graduate pro-grams. In addition, our College of Distance and Continuing Education allows students to schedule classes around their busy lifestyles. Each degree program is combined with a comprehensive lib-eral arts foundation, which is designed to develop problem-solving and communication skills. pate in a variety of campus activities, in-cluding academic clubs, service organizations, intramural athletics and campus ministries. CSU’s athletic teams compete in the NCAA Division I Big South Conference. Our athletic programs have produced several nationally rec-ognized professional sports figures, including Charlie Simpkins, 1992 Olympic silver medal-ist; Maurice Price and Josh Breeden, who signed as free agents in the NFL; Bryant Burch, who signed with the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders; Crystal Carpenter, who signed with the WNBA’s Utah Starzz; R.J. Swindle, who played for the Charleston Riverdogs as a member of the Yan-kees organization and became the first CSU player to ever pitch in a MLB game, joining the Phillies; Tyler Thornburg, who was taken by the Milwaukee Brewers in the third round of the 2010 MLB draft; and Bobby Parnell, who made it to the Majors with the N.Y. Mets. Charleston Southern University is proud to have sent 11 dif-ferent teams to NCAA competition over the past eight years. The women’s golf team is the most recent to represent the University in NCAA post-season play, winning the conference champion-ship in 2010, while men’s tennis is historically the most consistent, having competed in four NCAA tournaments since 1999. In 2008, CSU sent 12 track athletes to the NCAA Regional meet, and were also represented at the 2010 NCAA Indoor National Championships. The University fields teams in basketball, women’s soccer, softball, cross country, baseball, track & field, golf, tennis, and volleyball, as well as an NCAA Division-I football program. Charleston is America’s most beautifully preserved architectural and historic treasure, with a rich, 300-year history just waiting to be discovered. Hundreds of significant and lovingly preserved structures from the colonial and antebellum periods grace the historic district’s narrow streets. Church bells toll the hour as history unfolds around each and every

corner. In no other place are the past and present more intertwined. The entire Charleston area is a never-ending feast for the senses, with history serving as the main course. Visit Charles Towne Landing, the site where the original settlement was established in 1670. Explore the Charles-ton Museum, our nation’s first museum, or Patriot’s Point, the world’s largest naval and maritime museum and home of World War II’s Fighting Lady, the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Yorktown. Drive to Fort Moultrie, scene of the first decisive American victory of the American Revolution, and a mainstay of shore defense until 1947. Take a scenic boat tour to Fort Sum-ter, the manmade island fortress where the Civil War began. World-famous plantations and gardens offer visitors a fascinating glimpse into life during the antebellum era. In-formative tours of the Charleston area are of-

fered daily and are a must for all who want to truly appreciate this living museum. The area’s lush sea islands and sun-drenched beaches offer as much recreation or relaxation as your heart desires. Golf is on a world-class level, with challenging courses reflecting the natural beauty of the South Carolina Lowcountry. Charter fishing on the Gulf stream or in-shore waters is readily available. Shopping is one of our vistors’ most passionate pursuits. Marvel at native sweetgrass baskets and handmade crafts found in Charleston’s famous open-air market, or browse through inviting boutiques, art galleries and antique shops found throughout the Charleston area. When it comes to dining, your biggest decision may be just what to try next. Every meal is a celebration of tastes, with a variety that ranges from traditional oyster roasts to fine continental dining. If festivals strike your fancy, you have come to the right place. You will be dazzled by a diverse array of special events. At any time of year, you will always find more to see, do and experience than you ever imagined ... in a place where warm welcomes have been a treasured tradition for over 300 years.
