Parent and Child (6 mo. - 3 yrs.)The purpose of the Parent and Child Aquatic program is to help young children become comfortable in and around the water. While the class is designed to raise the comfort level of the child, it is also intended to educate the parent or caregiver in basic water skills so they are better equipped to aid in their child’s aquatic education and ensure that their child stays safe in all water activities. Preschool (3-5 yrs.)The earlier a child becomes comfortable in water, familiar with safety precautions, and introduced to the basics of beginner swimming, the better prepared they will be around pools, lakes, and other aquatic environments. The Preschool Frisco Splash class will teach the fundamentals of water safety, buoyancy, breath control, swimming on front and back, changing direction and water entry and exit. Students will also be introduced to and are expected to master: elementary backstroke, dolphin kick, and breaststroke kick. Sign up to have you or your child’s swimming skills assessed for free by one of our Certified Swimming Instructors. The instructors will spend one-on-one time with each registered participant to evaluate their current swimming level and discuss developmental swimming goals.

Registration is required to participate in the free assessment. The assessment will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Assessments are available Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. A swimsuit is required and goggles are strongly recommended.

The Learn to Swim program is proud to offer private swim lessons for children of all skill levels ages 3 and up. Our certified instructors will teach the skills required to make swimming a more rewarding and en-joyable experience. Sessions include four, 30-minute private lessons. Pick a time that is convenient for you.

Level 6 (6-12 yrs.)The objective of Level 6 is to refine all of the four major strokes. Students will combine strokes and turns in order to swim with more ease, efficiency, and power over greater distances. To enroll in this level the student must be able to show an effective and proficient stroke as well as the appropriate turns in the following: Freestyle 150 yards, Backstroke 75 yards, Breaststroke 75 yards and Butterfly 50 yards. Stroke Clinic (8+ yrs.)This course is designed for participants who have already passed Level 6. Participants will increase efficiency, build stamina and refine skills that target the four major swim strokes, Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly and Breaststroke, in order to sustain a long distance workout or practice. Sign up for the entire session or drop in on a week in which you may need a little extra practice on a particular stroke. Priority will be given to those that sign up for the entire session. Wiggle and Wade (3-5 yrs.)Grab your swimsuit and towel - it’s time to have some fun! This interactive class will combine games, crafts, music, reading, swimming and play all in one. American Red Cross Water Park Lifeguard Training CourseIn this course, you will study and attain the skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies while also gaining knowledge on dry land of life saving and first aid skills. Walk-in Registration

Walk-in registration is conducted at the Frisco Athletic Center during regular hours of operation beginning August 6 for residents and Frisco Athletic Center members. Registration opens to everyone August 8. We accept cash, check, money orders and major credit cards. We will not accept credit card charges over the phone.

Complete the registration form and mail it to the address listed below with the appropriate class fees and signed waiver. Please allow plenty of time for mail delivery, as we are not responsible for mail delays. After your registration is processed, you will receive an email confirmation. If you have not received an email confirmation within 7 days of the class start date, please call 972-292-6600 to confirm registration.

If your first class option is full, you will be enrolled in the second option you listed based on availability. If all options listed are full, you will be contacted. Please send a separate check for each class/program registration. Checks and money orders must be payable to the City of Frisco with your driver’s license and phone number included on the check. Please do not send cash through the mail.

Class Registrations are handled on a ‘first-come, first-serve’ basis. Classes have limited enrollment and specific registration cut-off dates.

Registration FeesAll program fees are set according to the cost of the instructor, supplies and minimum class enrollment. Some programs may require additional fees or supplies. All fees collected support and finance these programs.

Waiting ListsDue to instructor/participant ratios, each class and program will have a maximum number of spots available. Once the class maximum has been reached, subsequent registrants will be notified that the class is full and will have the option to be placed on a waiting list. Should spots become available, program openings will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis from registrants that appear on the waiting list. If you are contacted off a waitlist, you must register and pay within 24 hours at the Frisco Athletic Center.

Quality AssuranceTry our classes! If, after attending the first class you are not happy with the quality of the program, call us right away. Tell us what is wrong so we can make it right. There are no refunds for non-attendance, one-day classes or supply fees.

Refund PolicyIn the event the Parks & Recreation Department cancels a class, 1. you will receive a full refund or a credit equal to the class fee; or a class transfer can be requested. A credit will be issued to the participant’s FAC account if a 2. completed Refund Request Form is received at least 10 days prior to the start of the class or session. A 20% processing fee will be assessed. If a 3. Refund Request Form is not received at least 10 days prior to the start of the class or session, a refund will not be issued. Medical Refund4. – A credit will be issued to the participant’s account if an illness or injury causes a participant to miss a single-day class, the entire session or the remainder of a session. To be eligible for a Medical Refund, written documentation from a physician’s office must accompany the Refund Request Form and must be received within 72 hours of the first missed class. A 20% processing fee will be assessed. The refund will be pro-rated if the withdrawal occurs during the session.Transfers from one Frisco Fun Guide season to another are not 5. allowed. Processing of refund checks from cash or check payments takes 6. approximately four to six weeks. Refund checks will be mailed. Refunds to credit card must be made in person. Account credits are valid for one year from the date of issue. 7. Under no circumstances will a cash refund be provided.8.

CancellationsThe Parks & Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel any class, program or activity due to weather, failure to meet minimum registration requirements, and situations beyond our control. In the event a class is cancelled, you will be notified and a full refund will be issued.

Sibling PolicyThe structure of the parent/child classes are designed for direct interaction between one parent and one child. We allow only children who are of the appropriate age and registered for the class to attend the program. Other siblings or children will not be permitted in the classroom or allowed to be left unattended in the lobby outside of the class.

Returned Check PolicyA $35 service charge will be assessed for any returned check.

Stormwater pollution is a problem that a�ects all of us. Rain water and urban runo�, caused by over-irrigation and hosing down drive ways, can �ow from our streets and yards and carry pollutants into local storm drains.

These pollutants are carried untreated directly to our creeks, streams and lakes where they eventually end up in our drinking water supply.

Many pollutants originate in our backyards and might include things such as animal waste, litter, fertilizers, pesticides, and soil.

The good news is it doesn’t require a huge e�ort to make a di�erence - just some common good habits. As a Frisco resident, you can help make a di�erence and be proactive in the e�ort to prevent pollution.
