Paper 1 (Listening)

� It will be provided in the Paper 1B exam for both E- & C-version candidates

� It is not an indication for exam area & it is subject to review

Paper 2 (Practical Exam)

� Practical Exam: Solo, Viva Voce & Sight-singing(Exam Period: late Feb – mid April 2013)

� Solo: bring along the music scores that will be performed for the examiner;scores will be returned on-the-spota form to be completed: name of pieces performed, composer name(s), instrument(s), accompaniment (if any), duration(each piece)

� Sight-singing: sing at sight a melody notated in treble or bass clef1 min. preparationonly one attempt

Advice on Practical Exam

� Use the performing instruments as stated in

registration

� Only piano will be provided; NO computer or

speakers etc. will be provided by the HKEAA

� Note the different requirements of Paper 2 & 5

� In case special centre is needed, submit written

letter with school chop. State reason, instruments

required, make suggestion on available and

reasonable centre(s)

� Tune your instruments before assessment

� Repetitive Performance may be stopped

� Inform HKEAA in case any accidents happened

that candidates cannot come for the exam

� Late comers may not be allowed to sit exam

Paper 2 (Ensemble Recording)� Ensemble Recording: (Submission Period: 12-16 Nov 2012)

� Video recording

• CD/DVD

• MPEG, AVI, WMV

� Music score (mark on the score which part the candidate has performed)

� Complete the “Record of ensemble performance” form

� Every item submitted should be clearly labeled with the candidate number and school code. Each student must put their submission items into an envelope or a folder; and be clearly labeled with the candidate number and school code

� Teachers complete the form “Students' Submission Record on Ensemble Performance”.

Advice on Ensemble Recording

� Comply with the specified file format

� NO post-processing of the video

� NO stickers on CD labels

� Mark on the CD & scores the candidate number and school code

� Write clearly on the form how to identify the candidate in the video

� Schools to confirm EA which candidates without submission

� Only one video saved on the CD

� Mark on the score which part the candidate has performed

� Fill the form “collection of scores” if the scores need to be returned

� Performance over 5 minutes will be neglected

� Portfolios must be submitted by schools

� Only one submission to the HKEAA is allowed

Paper 3 (Creating I) / Paper 6 (Creating II)

� Portfolio (Submission period: 28 Jan – 1 Feb 2013)

� Scores of the compositions

� Audio recording of the compositions

• CD/DVD

• MP3, MIDI

� Score(s) of the original piece that is/are used for the arrangement (For Paper 3 only)

� Reflective report

� Declaration form

� Teacher completes the form(s) “Students’ Submission Record on Creating I / Creating II ”

� Advice:

� Comply with the specified file format

� Record all compositions and arrangement on ONE disc.

� No stickers on CD

� Schools to confirm EA which candidates without submission

Paper 4 Paper 4 ((Special ProjectSpecial Project))

� Proposed topic for approval� Submit at the time of registration

� Candidates can continue their project if no notification was received from the HKEAA within 3 weeks after closing of registration

� Change of topic will not be considered after registration

� Special Project (Submission period: 28 Jan – 1 Feb 2012)

� Written report

� Declaration form

� Additional materials (if any)

� Teachers completes the form “Students’ Submission Record on Special Project”

Paper 5 Paper 5 ((Performing IIPerforming II) ) /Paper 6 /Paper 6 ((Creating IICreating II))

� Application for exemption:

� Certificate to be verified by school

� Stamp the school chop on the copy of the certificate

� Scan and submit the copy with school chop on the registration system

� Any upgrade of the qualification needs to be submitted in person to the HKEAA office on or before 15 Jan 2013

� If no certificate is available at the time of registration, candidates should submit on or before 15 Jan 2013. Late submission will not be accepted.
