~In Our Thoughts & Prayers~ Homebound Parishioner of the Week

Recently Dr. Kevin Smalley made me an offer for you that I couldn’t refuse. Sometimes some of you need to check your blood pressures for whatever your health needs might be. Dr. Smalley offered to host a blood pressure check after the weekend Masses to as-sist you. So next weekend Dr. Smalley will be available after each of the Masses to check your blood pressure for you. At St. Pius X in Grandville we had a group of nurses who offered this service once a month. If this is a benefit to you perhaps we could do that here as well if we have other medical personnel willing to help. So if you want to get your blood pressure checked next week-end plan to stay a few minutes after Mass and meet Dr. Smalley as he measures your blood pressure for you. Unrelated to the above announcement, we have an elderly gentleman who lives in the general area of Knapp and Diamond Streets who is in need of a ride some Sundays to 11:00 a.m. Mass. He has a family member who can bring him some Sundays but they are not available to do it every Sunday. If you could help with this please contact Lori in the Parish Office to vol-unteer and she can put you in touch with the family. I share the following thank you letter with you. It is in response to a recent donation from the Parish tithe— the Deacon George Social Justice Fund. “Dear Rev. Darling: Thank you so much for your generous contribu-tion of $2,000 to our non-profit organization, Starlight Ministries. We extend our gratitude for your support of our Grief Support Groups Nights through your parish’s Deacon George Social Justice Fund. The money you provided will be used to assist us in serving children and adults through their grief jour-ney. Our organization operates solely on individual do-nations, grants and fundraisers. It is a gift like yours that will truly bless our ministry and those hurting in our com-munity. We look forward to connecting with you again. Sincerely, Dianna Rietman Family Services Coordinator”

What’s going on at the parish school? If you are curious about campus happenings, there are numerous ways to stay connected. Email: Enrolled families, Toddler through 8th grade, automatically re-ceive regular email messages. Dur-ing the school year the Friday email blast contains the most pertinent in-formation for school families. Online Calendar: The ASA calen-dar is always available on our web-site, www.asagr.org./calendar-of-events. Blog: (asatoday.blogspot.com) The ASA Today blog posts news and photos about campus life and events at least weekly during the school year. Social Media: Follow us on Face-book (ASAEagles), Twitter (@ASAEagles) and/or Instagram (asa_eagles) for reminders and pho-tos/videos. ASA App: Yes, there’s an app for that! Search for All Saints Academy by A+ Apps (look for our logo) in ei-ther the App Store or Play Store.

Join us in the ASA garden! During the summer all are invited to help weed and harvest during two weekly sessions. Join school families and staff beginning June 18th at ei-ther 6:30 pm Mondays or 10:00 am Thursdays. The garden is located behind the middle school (1110 4 Mile NE) next to the playground. Feel free to bring your favorite gar-dening gloves and tools to use. You are welcome to keep any produce you harvest.

You can make your CSA dona-tion online by visiting our parish website. On the main page there is a link to the Diocese of Grand Rapids website. Go to that link and it will tell you how to make your donation. Don’t forget to reference Blessed Sacrament when filling out the form.

Help support our seminarians and priests— Bishop Walkowiak wants your feedback!

The Diocese of Grand Rapids will be conducting a feasibility study throughout July and August, and Bishop Walkowiak would like to hear from you. The study will gather feedback on a potential diocesan-wide capital campaign to support our seminarians and priests. A high level of responses from Catholics throughout West Michigan is needed to aid the bishop in making an informed decision on whether to move forward. Potential campaign goals include investing in the edu-cation of our growing number of seminarians, supporting specialized education for our priests, and funding the Priest Retirement Fund. The Steier Group, a Catholic development and fundraising firm, has been hired to conduct the study. A final recommendation on the viability of the campaign will be made in the early fall. Visit dioceseofgrandrapids.org for additional details on how you can partici-pate. Stay tuned to the bulletin throughout the study for regular updates.

A heartfelt thank you to all who helped make this year's garage sale a huge suc-cess! Our profit was over $5,400.00 and that number will continue to grow. Led by the Holy Spirit, friends rallied together to organize the donations in the Family Center. Thanks for sharing your time and talents, good memories and friend-ships were made! Thanks for your donations and baked goods, shoppers were delighted with both! Tax donation forms can be found in the stewardship tower in the church narthex. Thanks again, your kindness was greatly appreciated!
