SR. Funeral services were held on Tuesday for Henry T. Doctor, Sr. of the Catta-raugus Indian Reservation who died May 4, 2012 at age 68. He was the long time friend of Rick Jemi-son and many other rela-tives and friends; father of David (Laurel) Graham, Lisa (Mike) Smith, Henry Doctor, Jr., Harley (Dana) Doctor, John and Don-ald Doctor; grandfather of many grand and great-grandchildren; brother of Janet Cuen, Marcaline, Cheryl Doctor and Judy Blackwolf. Henry was an avid biker who traveled from ocean to ocean many times. Arrangements were made by Wentland Funeral Home, North Collins, NY.

He was the beloved husband of the late Jeanette (Fricano) Gei-ger; loving father of Gene Geiger and Ellie (Joseph) Poliseno; beloved uncle of Sharon, Debbie, Julie, Kate, Mary Ann and Cindy; great-uncle of many nieces and nephews; brother of the late Cyril Geiger, Isa-belle Wolcow, Leonard, Beatrice and Edith Geiger. Jeep was a WWII Veteran, Supervisor of North Col-lins, Management at Ford Auto Workers, Hamburg, a member of American Legion Post 1640 and VFW Post 199. Memorials made to Hospice Buffalo. Laing; father of Kathy Fisher (Gary Sellig), Paul (Mary) Laing, Linda (Dave) Hock and Brenda (Thomas) Schreiner; sis-ter of Harold (Barbara) GreeleyJr., grandmother of Craig (Kristen), Al-exandra, Adam, Allison, David (Laura), Elizabeth, Rebecca, Jessica and Vic-toria; great-grandmother of Millie. Joyce was the daughter of Harold and Marie Greeley and the older sister of Har-old “Skip” Greeley. During the Depression she grew up in Westfield and Gowanda, New York. She moved to Eden as a teenager where she made many of her life-long friends. She married her high school sweet-heart Paul Laing, after she graduated from Fredonia Teacher’s College. Follow-ing college, she taught at North Collins Elementary and Eden Central Schools. Joyce and Paul raised their family at the Laing home-stead on Jennings Road in Eden. They brought up four children; Kathy, Paul, Linda and Brenda. Family was always first and she wanted to be surrounded by those she loved, especially her nine grandchildren and her great granddaughter. As a family, summers were spent and special memories were created at her Chau-tauqua cottage. Throughout her life she was an active member of many organizations includ-ing, Eden United Methodist Church, Up to Date Club and an Erie County Agri-culture Society Director. Joyce will always be remembered for her strong faith, warm personality and smiling Irish eyes. A Memorial Service will take place at a future date for Hollis Eisele who passed away in DeLand, Florida on May 14, 2012 at 97 years of age. She was the beloved wife of Stewart; mother of Judy and sister of Pat Warden and Harriet Moulthrop who all predeseased her. Holly is survived by her sister Julie Laing-Meyers, Three sons, Michael, Stewart Jr., and James, daughter-in-law Gaby, four grandchildren and three great grandchil-dren. Holly was born in Eden; daughter of Jennie and Howard Hill, one of the founding families of the Town. Holly was a graduate of Fredonia State Teachers College and taught at Ev-ans and Eden elementary schools for nearly 16 years after having worked for Ni-agara Mohawk in Angola.Holly and Steart retired to Deland, Florida in 1972 to an active and travel filled life. To celebrate her 85th birthday, Holly went sky-diving and became one of the oldest to do so at the time. Her energy and love will be missed greatly by her family and friends. BERMINGHAM S E L E C T E D B Y JANE GOODALL INSTITUTE Adrienne Bermingham, Canisius College alumna and Buffalo, N.Y. native, was recently selected by the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) to serve as the inter-national nonprofit’s youth representative to the United Nations (UN). As a UN Youth Representative, she will speak on behalf of Jane Goddall’s Roots & Shoots, the Institute’s global youth program, at special meet-ings on UN activities. In addition, she will contribute her ideas and creativity to projects and initiatives that the Institute pursues with the United Nations. Bermingham joined JGI in August 2011 as the Institute’s Youth Leadership Fellow. The fellow’s role is to support Roots & Shoots’ efforts to engage young people in projects that im-prove the environment and raise the quality of life for people and animals. Bermingham’s respon-sibilities include conduct-ing trainings at schools, workshops and conferenc-es,; overseeing the Roots & Shoots Youth Leader-ship Initiative ; serving as a Roots & Shoots media spokesperson; and spear-heading online outreach. Most recently, Berming-ham worked with Insti-tutes staff to develop and launch the latest Roots & Shoots Global Youth Cam-paign, One Million Hours of Service. To launch and promote the campaign with Roots & Shoots groups and community leaders, Adri-enne traveled to New York City, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Calif., and New Orleans, La., and she will continue her outreach until the campaign ends in December. Thanks in large part to

Bermingham’s efforts, the campaign has already con-tributed 50,000 service hours. In 2011, Bermingham graduated cum laude from Canisius College with a degree in political science and minors in anthrozool-ogy and zoo biology. While there, she served as a senior fellow with the Canisius Institute for the Study of Human-Animal Relations and as the vice-president of the College Democrats. During her undergradu-ate career, Bermingham also traveled extensively, including a trip to snorkel on Australia’s Great Bar-rier Reef and excursion to howl with the wolves in the Canadian wilderness. FSA REPORTING DATES FOR 2012 CROP YEAR Erie County USDA Farm Service (FAS) Executive Director Annette M. Hy-man, announced that the common acreage reporting dates (ARDs) between FSA and the Risk Management Agency (RMA) will take effect during the 2012 crop year for certain commodi-ties. The remaining common ARDs will be implemented during the 2013 crop year. “Last year a review team consolidated 54 ARDs for RMA and 17 ARDs for FSA into 15 common ARDs,” said Hyman. “The common reporting dates will reduce the crop reporting burden on producers and help reduce USDA operating costs by sharing data with partner agencies,” she said. New York FSA will imple-ment the new crop report-ing dates beginning July 1, 2012, for 2012 and subse-quent crops. Please refer the following for spring-seeded and fall-seeded ARDs:Apples, Grapes, Peaches - January 15; Spring Forage Seeding, Onions - May 15; Spring Barley, Corn, Dry Bean, Fresh Market Sweet Corn, Grain Sorhum, Green Peas, Spring Oats, Potatoes, Soybeans, Sweet Corn, To-matoes and all other crops - July 15; Cabbage, Fresh Market Beans, Processing Beans - August 15; Apicul-ture, Fall Barley, Perennial Forage, Fall Forage Seed-ing, PRF, Fall Wheat, and other Fall-Seeded Small Grains - November 15. Producers who file ac-curate and timely reports for all crops and land uses, including failed acreage can prevent the potential loss of FSA program benefits. “I encourage all produc-ers to visit the Erie County FSA office to file an accurate crop certification report by the applicable deadine on order to comply with FSA program elegibility require-ments,” said Hyman. Producers are also remind-ed to report crop losses in-sured through Federal Crop Insurance and the Nonin-

Now in its third year, it involves more and more students around town on May 25.While many of their projects will produce visible results, their efforts on Friday will be felt in other ways as well... through donations to the local food pantry, visits to cheer nursing home residents, and other less obvious projects. Through projects such as these, even the young-est students are able to participate.Community service should be a habit for life. Wether it is physical work cleaning up a park or helping by serving on a town committee. It is good for all of us to remember that serving our community helps to make Eden a better place to live.
