Yeoval Central School Term 3 Week 10
19 September 2011
The Western Access Program Year 12 Graduation was held last Friday night in Dubbo. All Year 12 stu‐dents and their parents attended the ceremony. We are delighted that four students received awards on the night. Ivana Van Der Spek was awarded a Certificate of Excellence for her work and results in photography. Laura Johnson was also awarded a Certificate of Excellence for her work and results in Hospitality. Marissa Smith was awarded a Certificate of Achievement in General Mathematics and Business Studies. All students received their Graduation Certificate and were congratulated for their commitment and ap‐plication to their studies in the Access Program. Laura Johnson represented our school as a Chairperson on the night. Mrs Bates and Mr Bernasconi represented our school. Year 12 students had their school Graduation Ceremony on Friday in our school hall. Mrs Bates organ‐ised the assembly, “The Great Escape to what you want to be”. A wonderful account of each student was presented in a power point to the assembly. There were a number of “early” photographs depicting each students childhood and days at Yeoval Central School. Presentations of appreciation were made to students and teachers. Natasha Austin delivered the Year 11 address to Year 12. Parents joined us for morning tea where the Year 12 students cut the traditional cake.
The Big Gig opens tonight at the Yeoval Memorial Hall. All parents and friends are welcome. Tickets can be purchased at the school office or at the entrance of the hall tonight. Mrs Tremain and Mrs Blatch have done a tremendous job organising the show and preparing the students. The Big Gig is in Yeoval on Monday, Trundle on Tuesday and Tullamore on Thursday. I would like to thank all parents for their support and all students for their commitment and practice. The School Sports Assembly was held last Wednesday in our school hall. The assembly was well attended by parents and friends. A number of guests were in‐vited to present awards. At this assembly all students who were champions at the carnivals (swimming, cross country and athletics) were recognised. Western Area representatives and Champion of Cham‐pions were presented with certificates and trophies. The winning house this year was Macarthur – this was the first time that they have won the trophy in 10 years. Congratulations Mr Olsson for organising a fantastic assembly where students were recognised for their achievements in sport.

What a perfect time of year. I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday and spend some time sitting quietly and enjoying the pleasures of the literary world. I would really like to encourage all parents to ask their children to borrow a book for the holidays and then encourage them to spend a short amount of time most days reading them. We have some wonderful books here at the mo‐ment and I am always happy to spend time with children who want some help in choosing appro‐priate titles. If parents want to help their children select books, you are always welcome. Otherwise, send a note and I will try and find the book you are after. If any of you find library books through the holi‐days, please pack them in school bags ready for next term. See you in two weeks, Annabel Gavin Librarian
