An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated innovative and progressive Registered Mental Health Nurse to work within the Forensic Community Mental Health Team, as Team Leader. Experience of working in forensic setting with a variety of mental health experience is required, working within a community setting and lone working would also be an advantage.

You will be educated to degree level or poses equivalent relevant experience in Forensic Mental Health and able to evidence continuous professional development.

The Team Leader will have excellent knowledge of completing comprehensive mental health assessments with this patient group. You will be a clinical expert and have experience and knowledge in structured professional judgement risk assessment tools. Although working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will make sound independent clinical and professional decisions on a daily basis.

As Team Leader you will provide effective leadership, operational management and organisational development of the Forensic Community Mental Health Team.

You will act as a source of specialist advice on Forensic Mental Health issues and risk management and provide consultation to other disciplines and services internal and external to NHS Fife. The Team Leader would be expected to participate in the Court Liaison Service and represent NHS Fife at MAPPA meetings.

It is essential that you have excellent interpersonal skills, communication and problem solving skills. You must be assertive and articulate with the ability to remain calm under pressure. You should pose excellent organisational and time management skills.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and innovative individual to work as a Clinical Nurse Educator within the Emergency Department at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.

We are seeking a passionate Clinical Nurse Educator who can make a meaningful contribution to supporting excellence in clinical nursing practice. The Clinical Nurse Educator will play an integral role in the management and delivery of education and staff development. We are looking for an experienced, person centred, professional nurse with a passion for teaching and who has extensive emergency medicine experience. You will promote excellence in nursing as a resource and a role model and will act as an expert, giving clinical counsel to staff, leading efforts related to implementation, evaluation and identification of evidence based practice, staff specific education, and patient education.

This post is part time, 22.5 hours per week, predominantly worked over a three day week, Monday to Friday. There is also a requirement for the occasional weekend day working to cover the duty charge nurse shift for the directorate.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced emergency medicine nurses who already possess postgraduate qualifications in teaching, emergency medicine nursing or significant equivalent experience. Ideally you should be educated to master’s degree level or have the ability to demonstrate working at master’s degree level appropriate to this clinical area. You should have evidence of significant post registration professional practice experience with substantial experience in the Emergency Department to undertake and fulfil the key areas for required for this post.

NHS Fife is delighted to announce the planned recruitment of additional Family Nurses to FNP locally, in line with the Scottish Government commitment to the ‘roll out FNP across Scotland’. The Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) is a home visiting programme offered to all first-time mums aged 19 and under across Fife. The programme is delivered by specially trained Family Nurses (FN), using methods based on theories of human ecology, self-efficacy and attachment, with a focus on building a strong relationship between the family nurse and the young woman. Beginning in the antenatal stage the Family Nurse (FN) continues to visit up to the child’s 2nd Birthday. The FNP's three main aims are to improve: pregnancy and birth outcomes, child health and development and parents' economic self-sufficiency.

We are currently recruiting Family Nurses to work in Fife. Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) has 3 sites across Fife and the successful candidate may be located at Cameron Hospital, Linburn Road Health Centre or Queen Margaret Hospital.

The Family Nurse Partnership post requirements are:

• First level registered nurse or midwife with current NMC registration.

• Professional knowledge acquired at degree level underpinning further specialist education and training such as Public Health Nursing/ Health Visiting, Mental Health or Paediatric Nursing. Please see the job description for further details on the post requirements.

This is an exciting development for the role of the Team Leader within Primary Care Emergency Services (PCES) as part of the National Out of Hours Review.

As Team Leader you will apply high levels of decision making to assess and treat paediatric and adult patients presenting in Fife Primary Care Emergency Services (PCES). As part of the senior clinical team you will ensure patient health needs are met through the autonomous provision of diagnosis and the management of patient conditions through assessment, treatment, and review planning process. This will be facilitated in partnership with patients, carers and families. This role involves providing specialist advice and education to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients and relatives. Within this role you will also be required to work collaboratively across healthcare boundaries to develop the service to improve practice, implementing and evaluating evidence based standards, guidelines and policy.This is an exciting opportunity to develop nursing practice within community based urgent care. As a Registered General Nurse with substantial post registration experience, you will be educated in a Independent Nurse Prescriber qualification and have completed or be prepared to complete the Minor/ Acute Illness qualification. You will also have experience supporting the professional development of others including teaching, clinical supervision and the application of research and audit underpinned by a strong knowledge of current Urgent Care issues. Excellent professional leadership, robust line management to lead a highly effective team, advanced clinical assessment and decision making skills are all key to this role. You will be flexible to the needs of the role and service and will support the lead nurse in developing the service to assure safe, patient centred and effective care delivery applying the 4 pillars of practice at an advanced level.The PCES is undergoing significant transformation in regards to it’s nursing workforce to support the Nursing Vision 2030 and the objective of the National Transforming Urgent Care programme and the PCES Team leader role is seen as being pivotal to support the Lead Nurse in further developing a supported, effective and sustainable nursing team.

To meet the needs of Primary Care Emergency Services hours will include a range of shift patterns which include, evenings, nights, weekends, day-time and public holidays. Travel across Fife will be required with PCES centres at QMH, VHK, Glenrothes and St Andrews.

We will support you with orientation, access to Personal and Professional Development Planning and Mentorship.

As a first level Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration and substantial post registration experience, you will provide a high quality, safe and effective clinical nursing service out-of-hours to the population of Fife and Kinross. You will have experience of Primary Care, Accident & Emergency and/or nurse triaging, as well as evidence of the development and implementation of clinical guidelines, protocols and algorithms. Minor Illness qualification and/or a clinical assessment qualification are essential to this role. Minor Injury qualification’s and V300 Nurse Prescribing registration are desirable. The service has centres at Queen Margaret Hospital, Victoria Hospital, Glenrothes and St Andrews Community Hospital.This is an exciting time for urgent care to support development of the nursing role in line with the Nursing Vision for 2030. We currently have vacancies for experienced, flexible nurses to support ongoing development of the urgent care practitioner role to include nurse consultation within the out of hours centre and a patient’s own home and clinical supervision within the dispatch centre to support the service in the provision of safe, patient centred and effective care.

You should have excellent communication skills, clinical assessment and critical decision making skills and be able to work autonomously and as part of a team.

We will support you with access to Personal Development Planning, a formal clinical supervision framework and relevant training and mentorship which will assure effective performance support.

You will have responsibility for the line management and clinical leadership of a District Nursing team providing nursing care to a defined patient caseload. You will have excellent time management skills and a flexible person centred approach as well as the ability to effectively prioritise workload thus enabling patients to remain as independent as possible in their own homes whilst having their care needs met. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be committed to the ongoing development of an effective nursing team.

Community experience is essential and candidates must possess a Specialist Qualification in Community Nursing in the Home / District Nursing, District Nursing qualification. You must have the ability to travel independently across the locality area of work.

If you have well developed skills and experience in working with people who are experiencing homelessness, this could be an exciting career development opportunity for you to develop these skills within the community. The secondment is for 6 months at a Band 5 level.

The NHS Fife Intervention Project is a highly innovative 18 month programme to test a new approach to providing services in NHS Scotland hospitals for those patients who are homeless. The project will be managed by Shelter Scotland and is supported by a multi-agency Steering Group led by Fife Council Housing Services and the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership. The key aims of this project are to:

improve working links between health and housing services provide homeless individuals with the right support to improve their health

outcomes reduce the re-admission rates among this cohort evaluate the preventative value of this approach in reducing pressures on

NHS Emergency Departments in Scotland.

The project employs 2 staff and is run from the Victoria Hospital. There is close partnership working with hospital staff at the front door to engage patients who are identified as having insecure housing. Workers will follow a five-stage process to engage with the patient, undertake an immediate crisis response, work with them to identify key goals, put this into action focused on helping the person to develop skills and resilience, and finally support them to move on.

The project will focus on emergency admissions at VHK and Out of Hours. The target group will be individuals of any age and families who are homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness.  This project is being evaluated by Healthcare Improvement Scotland.

A key aim of this project is to share learning and build capacity with key stakeholders across Fife. The Breast Service is responsible for over 2500 new patient episodes each year and treats approximately 180 new cancers every year. A full range of breast procedures is offered by the unit, including reconstructive and oncoplastic procedures. Free flaps are undertaken by the regional plastic surgery service at St John’s Hospital in Livingston.

The post holder will be expected to help in the administration of the unit and perform operating lists, new patient clinics, follow-up clinics and emergencies where appropriate. The on-call commitment covering post-operative patients is currently two nights per fortnight.

The department of Trauma and Orthopedic Services in NHS Fife wishes to appoint a clinical development fellow (ST1/CT1 level). This is a 1 year, fixed term post, designed to allow the opportunity to build skills in the generality of surgery and with specific experience in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. This post is ideally suited to someone who is is preparing to make an application for either ST1 or ST3 level NTN in Trauma and Orthopaedics, which a previous post holder has successfully achieved. The department has a strong record in research as well as links with Edinburgh and St Andrew's Universities. The post holder would be expected to assist with the teaching of medical students from St Andrews, receiving as part of this the status of Honorary Teaching Fellow. They will be encouraged to undertake a research project and can apply to register for an MSc. There are ample opportunties to take part in either audit or quality improvement projects during the post. The candidate will take part in the middle grade on-call rota which is a 1:12 partial shift.

These now well established posts support the provision of high quality patient care within the Emergency Department. It is aimed at clinicians with at least 3 years post registration and applicants must have at least 6 months of Emergency Medicine experience. Candidates who have previous experience in Emergency Medicine at middle grade level are encouraged to apply.

Senior clinical fellows will work alongside Specialty trainees in Emergency Medicine from the South East Scotland training rotation. Successful applicants will work at a middle grade level on a rota which provides 24 hour middle grade cover for the department under Consultant supervision. The rota will include overnight and weekend work.

All senior clinical fellows will be allocated an educational supervisor to support them in their ongoing training and facilitate appropriate training opportunities tailored to the individual’s interests and training needs. Development and maintenance of a portfolio is encouraged. 8 hours per week will be allocated flexibly for ongoing training and development.

Senior clinical fellows will be involved in the initial assessment and management of patients attending the emergency department, and in supervising and supporting FY2s and GPSTs in patient management. This will involve work in all areas of the department. There will be opportunities to develop experience of observational medicine under consultant supervision and to take part in Observation ward rounds.
