Caron Forensics Introduces Rapid Access Defense Weapons

Storage An Innovative Weapons Storage System

Caron Forensics Rapid Access Defense Weapons Storage RAD2

Caron Forensics

Marietta, OH, --(Ammoland.com)- Caron Forensics introduces Rapid

Access Defense (RAD), the newest and most innovative product on the

market for weapons storage. RAD is specifically designed for the storage

and fast presentation of defensive weapons in a wide range of home and

office environments.

RAD comes in two sizes: a two foot model, RAD2, and a four foot model,

RAD4. They can be surface mounted horizontally or vertically, ideally in

a concealed location, such as a bedroom closet, home or business office

or your family’s emergency meeting place. RAD is the solution to store

tactical defense weapons safely away from both children and thieves,

while still providing quick access to the user.

Caron Forensics Rapid Access Defense Weapons Storage RAD4

Weapons are stored by means of specially designed accessories that clip

to the twin rails inside RAD. You can mount a wide variety of rifles,

shotguns, handguns, ammunition, knives, flashlights and other weapons

in stealthy yet efficiently positioned locations. The design allows you to

customize RAD with infinite combinations and positioning of accessories

along the rails.

“RAD is ideal for both experienced and new gun owners who

want a fast, economical way to secure their home defense

handguns, shotguns or rifles,” said Caron Chairman Steve

Keiser.

“Because they are easily mounted on a wall almost anywhere

in your home or business, they are a far more attractive and

practical alternative to large, heavy safes or small single-

handgun boxes.”

The cabinet includes a strong key-lock latch to keep unauthorized

persons out. Matching keys are available for owners who want to

position multiple RADs around the house. A unique gas spring

deployment system opens the cabinet with a short pull, enabling the use

of both hands to quickly access multiple tactical items.

“In an emergency, users will appreciate that they can

immediately get to their handguns and other weapons of

choice from positions and orientations they have chosen and

practiced ahead of time,” Keiser said.

“We recognize that in home defense situations, people

typically arm themselves with more than just a pistol. They

also grab a flashlight, a cell phone and perhaps a knife or

pepper spray. The RAD system is designed for that type of

scenario.”

The robust cabinet is fabricated of powder coated steel. Accessories

designed to hold weapons (such as the magnetic clip) have a protective

plastic or foam coating.

The RAD2 comes standard with a handgun holder, a flashlight/pepper

spray holder and a magnetic clip. A pair of rifle/shotgun hooks, a

flashlight/pepper spray holder and a magnetic clip comes standard with

the RAD4. Additional accessories include a small shelf (ideal for ammo)

and two styles of holster clips. The bottom lip of the cabinets is designed

to hold rifle and pistol magazines, shotgun shells, speed loaders, moon

clips and other items.

The RAD system is designed for the home defense market, and is

currently undergoing evaluation by law enforcement agencies to

determine if there are further applications, including home cabinets for

LE personnel, SWAT team use and to hold additional weapons and

ammo in the trunks of police cruisers.

Addressing the need for an improved weapons storage method for new

gun owners and veteran gun owners alike, RAD is unlike any other

product on the market. Caron Forensics intends to sell the RAD systems,

along with its fingerprint development products, directly through its new

website, www.caronforensics.com. To learn more about RAD or to buy

them online directly from Caron, visit the website.

About Caron Forensics:

Caron Forensics, part of Ohio-based laboratory equipment maker Caron

Products & Services, is one of the leading manufacturers of high-tech

Fingerprint Chambers, used by federal, state and local forensics labs and

law enforcement agencies to rapidly process latent fingerprints using the

Ninhydrin and DFO techniques. The RAD systems are made in Marietta,

Ohio.

Obama Forbids Sale of 850,000 Antique Rifles To US Citizens

The administration’s decision was based on concerns that the guns could

fall into the wrong hands…US citizens?

Fox News

Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- The South Korean government,

in an effort to raise money for its military, wants to sell nearly a million

antique M1 rifles that were used by U.S. soldiers in the Korean War to

gun collectors in America.

The Obama administration approved the sale of the American-made

rifles last year. But it reversed course and banned the sale in March – a

decision that went largely unnoticed at the time but that is now sparking

opposition from gun rights advocates.

A State Department spokesman said the administration’s decision was

based on concerns that the guns could fall into the wrong hands.

“The transfer of such a large number of weapons — 87,310 M1 Garands

and 770,160 M1 Carbines — could potentially be exploited by individuals

seeking firearms for illicit purposes,” the spokesman told FoxNews.com.

“We are working closely with our Korean allies and the U.S. Army in

exploring alternative options to dispose of these firearms.”

“It seems to have this implication of destruction, which would be

tremendously wasteful,” he said. “These are guns that should be in the

hands of American citizens for marksmanship and safety training.”

Asked whether melting the guns down would be a good option, Henigan

said: “Why let them into the country in the first place? If there is a legally

sufficient way to keep them out, we think it’s perfectly reasonable to do

so.”

“M1s are used for target practice. For history buffs, they’re highly

collectible. We’re going to continue to make sure that this backdoor

effort that infringes not only on lawful commerce but on the Second

Amendment is rectified.”

Henigan disagrees. “They clearly were used as military guns, and the fact

that they likely can take high-capacity magazines makes them a special

safety concern,” he said.

The White House referred questions on the issue to the Pentagon, which

referred questions to the U.S. Embassy in South Korea, which deferred

back to the State Department.

solid win with his seven stage wins,” said Michael Voigt,

president of the U.S. Practical Shooting Association.

Finishing second behind Jordan was Chris Keen of Dayton, Ohio with

one stage win and a final score of 997.3022. Third place went to Michael

Hollar of Conover, N.C. who also won one stage and finished with

971.9118.

Rounding out the top five were Gilbert Perez of Sevierville, Tenn. in

fourth with a stage win and 936.9887 points, and Micah Barcelo of

Xenia, Ohio in fifth with 895.1595.

Paul Hendrix of Jamestown, N.C. finished sixth overall and claimed the

Senior Limited-10 title with a final score of 817.3453.

The TechWear USA Area 8 Championship drew 278 top competition

shooters. It is one of the eight USPSA shooting regions in the country

and is made up of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and

Virginia.

The run-and-gun sport of practical shooting was formally established in

1976 but traces its roots back to the 1950’s and the quick draw “leather

slap” competitions that grew out of America’s love affair with the TV

westerns of that era.

Today the sport represents the upper echelon of the shooting sports with

many of its top shooters actively training law enforcement and military

units on shooting techniques and equipment developed in competition.

The next major pistol competition on the USPSA calendar is the 2010

USPSA Handgun National Championships scheduled for October 8

through 16 in Las Vegas, Nev. For more information, visit

They feel the same, have the same weight balance, sights, materials. The

only distinguishable characteristic is an orange tip and when you drop

the mags one’s holding 15 9mm rounds, and the other is holding

15….plastic airsoft BB pellets.

It’s an airsoft gun, often considered to be a toy and recreational item. But

they can be so much more. Many law enforcement agencies are utilizing

them already with great success. And you can get in on it too. Airsoft

fields and events can be an invaluable and inexpensive tool to reinforce

gun safety, combat preparedness, and proper use of a firearm for

defense.

Airsoft is different from air rifles and pellet guns in that they use

standardized airsoft 6mm plastic bb’s that weigh far less than metal

pellets or sabots, and are perfectly safe in a controlled play environment.

There are an increasing number of airsoft clubs and airsoft organizations

establishing multiple day events that can be attended for a set fee.

They’re run on weekends, centered around military scenarios, and the

core skills practiced are valuable to real world preparedness. There are

varying degrees of immersion, ranging from “play and go back to the car

for a snack” to full airsoft milsim, where one acts, functions, and

performs like a real military force for the entire duration. These latter are

great for testing weapons skills.

Most events are in outdoor wooded areas, while some are more modeled

after urban environments. Each type has its own advantages to real

firearms training. Wooded areas teach players to scan large areas quickly

to look for potential threats. They also put hunting camo to the test by

seeing how effective it is against the ultimate target –watchful human

eyes. Urban areas teach how to use cover effectively and about lines of

fire and engagement.

For those that don’t have the time to dedicate a weekend or full day to

these events, there are even small walk-in arenas where one can pay a

flat fee for the entire day. They operate on round based team-on-team

matches. The downside is that anyone can join in, so you’ll have lots of

younger teenage boys playing war gung-ho, which can detract a bit from

the experience. Find a group of like-minded friends, and it can make for

both a fun and educational experience.

Proper Weapon Usage

Airsoft teaches proper weapon usage, maintenance, and safety

precautions. Most airsoft guns in the mid-range price look, feel, and

function as close to the real steel guns as possible. Most pistols are 1:1

true to scale, so if you own a real pistol, you can find its airsoft version

and even use your carry holster to train smooth drawing. A few popular

models made by airsoft manufacturers are 1911′s (both single and double

stack), m92s, USPs, and Sig P226 series pistols. Some gas airsoft pistols

even disassemble the same way as the real thing! Real firearms training

is great for becoming accustomed to the physical feel of shooting a gun,

but airsoft simulation events teach valuable self-defense tactics in actual

firefights scenarios against other people.

Physical Fitness

Another often overlooked benefit is physical fitness. Running around all

day from cover point to cover point with adrenaline rushing is fantastic

exercise. Just make sure to stay hydrated! You’ll be sweating a lot more

than you think. It also trains your body to react well under stress and

flight/fight situations. The more you’re exposed to these moments, the

faster your brain is able to process the correct actions and pathways,

your muscle memory knows exactly how to draw your weapon , cock it,

and fire it, and reload it. When you can do these actions unconsciously,

you have more presence in the moment to make combat decisions.

Warrior Mindset

The most important skill learned at these events is mindset. You can put

all your tactical gear and holsters through real world paces and

determine what works, and lose what doesn’t. You learn to distinguish

between friend and foe. You’ll hone your aiming and marksmanship

skills on real targets who will react and move. You’ll learn how to use

your weapon defensively, so you’ll train yourself how to respond – rather

than react – to surprises and potential threats. And if you’re “killed” you

can learn from your mistakes, so you survive next time!

Centerpoint Hunting And Outdoors Unveils Redesigned Website

CenterPoint Hunting and Outdoors

ROCHESTER, NY –-(Ammoland.com)- CenterPoint Hunting and

Outdoors, a division of Crosman Corporation, a leading supplier of

products for the shooting sports, has launched a newly designed, menu-

driven website, centerpointhunting.com, for its crossbow archery and

precision optics products.

Crosman’s web and social media manager, Chip Hunnicutt,

states that, “The new site embodies the company’s

commitment to the hunting category. By enhancing the site,

we’re providing customers and visitors with an attractive and

effective presentation of information, we’re able to convey the

strength of our product offering and enhance brand

perception.”

Adapting to the more sophisticated needs of visitors to the site,

centerpointhunting.com provides a clearer presentation of product

specifications and available accessories.

“Information is presented in an easy to understand, dynamic

fashion that highlights important features and provides

details allowing customers to make informed choices,” said

Vice President of Marketing Bob Hampton.

For example, the Game TAG Series Scopes with ballistic crosshairs are

described in a helpful progression of animations.

Sara DeMuzio, optics product manager comments, “Actually

demonstrating the reticle and its operation on the website is a

helpful tool for sales, customer service, and consumers. The

reticle detail on the new website is much larger and displays

not only the type of reticle, but illumination options shown in

varying light conditions. It serves as a teaching tool.”

Resources offered on the website encourage visitors to learn

about the products before making a purchasing decision.

“Even after customers have made a purchase, they can visit

the resource page for downloadable owner’s manuals, mil-dot

calculators and answers to frequently asked questions,” said

DeMuzio.

Other features new to the site include a “brand bar” at the top of the

page for convenient navigation between the CenterPoint Hunting and

Outdoors, Crosman and Game Face Airsoft websites. The brand bar

incorporates a shared shopping cart among all the sites so customers can

purchase scopes, accessories, airsoft and airguns, all on the same order.

If customers are shopping on a budget or looking for something specific

like dovetail rings for their scope, they can simply check their desired

criteria on the “Narrow Your Results” sidebar. The products are then

filtered and instantly displayed. The site even remembers what choices

have been selected so the same results are displayed upon returning to

that same page. A newly added 5 star rating scale gives customers the

opportunity to share overall satisfaction ratings of their purchases.

“The focus on the user is apparent in every aspect of the site,”

says Hunnicutt. “It takes no more than two clicks to get to

any product, and the new blog features products in action

with ever-changing videos, articles and photos.”

Crosman encourages the use of social media networks to enhance user

experiences on the website and with products.

“Facebook, Twitter and YouTube improve connections with

our audience while establishing a business presence. In

addition, that presence helps us build our community

initiatives and maximize the impact of our cross promotional

efforts,” according to Hunnicutt.
