IGNITE Your Deer Herd WithRack One OverloadAPR 04, 2011 06:29P.M.

It’s Time To IGNITE Your Deer Herd With Overload

Rack one

GRAYLING, Mich. --(Ammoland.com)- Successful deer-hunting-

property owners understand that the end of hunting season means that

true deer season has only just begun.

That’s because they know that, even though the long rut followed by a

particularly brutal winter has come to an end, the real whitetail season

starts with revitalizing their herd.

Feeding is more important now than ever to produce big bucks and

prevent infant mortality. They know that without a herd of healthy deer

roaming their property, there’ll be just an occasional immature buck

crossing within range come hunting season. The best of them know right

now is the time to condition their herd, and they do it with Overload

from Rack One.

The Condition Phase of the IGNITE Whitetail Hunting System is

designed to do exactly what it says: condition your herd. This phase is

targeted towards the herd as a whole, not just the bucks. When it comes

5

to staying healthy, conditioning the deer is a major step that many

people overlook completely.

“To ensure the health of the herd, we suggest using the

Condition Phase IGNITE product, Overload, from the time

the rut ends until either the snow melts in the north or when

deer start to shed their velvet after growing season,” said

Casey Keefer, co-owner at Rack One. “Overload is a premium

20-percent protein deer pellet that can be fed in gravity

feeders, trough-style feeders, or spin-cast feeders. This pellet

contains all the necessary nutrients that deer need to get their

bodies back into peak condition after a long and stressful

breeding season.”

Rack One Overload Deer Feed

Having whitetail in peak condition allows a few different things to

happen. In terms of a buck, Overload will pack the weight back on his

body after the rut. Regaining weight that has been lost during the rut is a

crucial aspect of how long that specific animals’ antler-growing season

will be. In addition to its 20-percent protein content, Overload has a

guaranteed analysis of nine-percent fat content with a six-percent fiber

content to ensure your bucks can rapidly bulk back up.

“If a buck doesn’t put its weight back on and heal his body

after the rut, when it comes time to shed his antlers and begin

growing new ones—usually about the time spring foliage is

beginning to appear—everything he eats will be directed to

his body in order to gain weight instead of going toward

antler growth,” Keefer said. “These are just the natural steps

his body must take to ensure he is healthy again come that

shed/grow time. This time is critically important to put mass

on his body, so his body can immediately focus on antler

growth when that process begins.”

For the herd’s whitetail does, there is no phase that is more important to

the health and vitality of does than the Condition Phase. Every whitetail

herd must have a certain number of healthy, breeding does in order for

the herd to grow and succeed. Overload provides does with all the

nutrition—fat, protein, etc.—that they require to return to good health

after the rut. This is another extremely important aspect of herd

management for a few different reasons.

First, if a doe is able to immediately begin recuperating after the rut, she

will be much more likely to maintain a healthy pregnancy. If a doe is not

healthy, her body will naturally abort that pregnancy in order to survive.

This leads to a higher rate of mortality, which will decrease the number

of deer in the herd in the future. This creates what is commonly referred

to as a generation gap.

“Overload doesn’t just stop there,” Keefer said. “If the does

are able to sustain a pregnancy throughout the winter, the

real work begins the minute they give birth. For the first few

months of life, fawns are completely reliant upon their

mothers to survive. Eating every three to four hours for weeks

on end, nursing fawns can in fact, drain the life out of a

doe—and that’s especially true if there are twins. We’ve

shown that does eating Overload during this time gives them

the proper nutrition to support fawns throughout the fawning

season into the summer, when fawns will begin to wean off

the does and browse for natural forage.”

If a doe has twins, the minute her body begins to lack in terms of health,

she is very likely to abandon one or both of her fawns just to survive, and

once again, decreasing herd numbers. Whether it’s does or bucks,

decreasing herd numbers will affect your hunting plans for years to

come. When too many bucks die off, the buck-to-doe ratio gets thrown

off, and a healthy herd can become decimated rather quickly because of

the lack of breeding. Likewise, when too many does die off, the buck-to-

doe ratio will slide to the other extreme, and the natural mortality will

increase due to fighting and competition to breed the fewer number of

does.

All in all, the Condition Phase is one of the most important chapters of

the Rack 1 Ignite Whitetail System. By using it properly, hunters and

land managers can ensure their herd remains healthy and in good

balance, thus leading to more successful days in the field come fall.

Rack One’s scientifically engineered IGNITE Whitetail Hunting System

provides 365 days of complete whitetail nutrition and attraction for your

herd. The IGNITE system addresses the evolving needs with a

comprehensive line of products that contain tailored levels of nutritional

supplements such as protein and fat. This system is comprised of four

specific phases—Condition, Grow, Scout, and Hunt. After the rut ends,

it’s time to rebuild your herd health in the Condition Phase with

Overload, the post-season calorie-consumption feed that helps your

bucks recover from the strenuous schedule of fighting, chasing and

breeding. As your deer herd stabilizes, the Grow Phase begins with

Xcellerator, which is packed with the minerals and nutrients that

promote herd health and growth while maximizing antler development

among the bucks. When it’s time to set out the trail cams, it’s also time to

begin the Scout Phase with the protein and fat-packed Chaos. In Hunt

Phase, you’re ready to reign in those deer with Rut Fuel and Acorn

Crush, the extremely powerful premium attractants that bring the deer

Team FNH USA Rocks the Superstition Mountain Mystery 3-

Gun Match

Hanging in climbing gear, Dianna Liedorff competes in the first stage of

fire where competitors had to throw dummy hand grenades through

windows before taking to the trigger.

FNH USA

McLean, Virginia --(Ammoland.com)- Several members of Team FNH

USA posted solid finishes at the Superstition Mountain Mystery 3-Gun

Match.

This year’s match had more than 300 shooters with several new stages

including the technical Stage One where shooters were hung in climbing

gear and had to throw dummy hand grenades into windows before

shooting targets.

“The quick and dirty stages at SMM3G are challenging and

keep you on your toes. One little mistake can cost you the

match,” said Tommy “Tommy Gun” Thacker, Director of

Product Management and Team Captain for FNH USA.

“Overall it was a good start to the year for Team FNH USA.”

Team FNH USA results included finishes by team members Tommy

Thacker coming in 7th in the Open Division and 9th overall in the match,

Mark Hanish who placed 13th in the Tactical Optics Division, followed

by the latest addition to the team, Eric Lund in 35th place. Dianna

Liedorff placed 72ndoverall, just over Tasha Hanish in 75th. The women

of Team FNH USA also took 2nd and 3rd in the Tactical Optics Women’s

Division respectively. Ken Pfau, Vice President of Law Enforcement and

Commercial Sales for FNH USA rounded out the team’s overall finish in

20th in the Tactical Limited Division shooting iron sights.

“Shooting iron sights at this match is always fun. The close

targets are deceptively difficult with plenty of “no-shoots” and

chances for penalties,” said Pfau.

Additional staff members from FNH USA also competed in the match

with Ernie Beckwith earning 104th place in the Tactical Optics Division

and Walt Hasser following in 164th. Tabor Bright placed 17th in the

Heavy Optics Division with his .308 SCAR 17s.

The three-day Superstition Mountain Mystery match is held at the Rio

Salado Sportmans Range and is considered the kick-off event for the

national 3-gun competition circuit. The event attracts several hundred of

the top shooters from around the country, and is also the first stop on the

“3-Gun Nation” National Tour.

The final-day shoot-off at each of the 3GN Tour stops is worth thousands

of dollars in cash prizes to the top three finishers and is among the

richest payouts in the practical and action shooting realm. Each of the

Boyt Harness Company Partners With Quail and Upland

Wildlife Federation, Inc

Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation

Buffalo, Missouri --(Ammoland.com)- “When you think of the

outdoors there are a few companies that stand out head and shoulders

above the rest,” states Craig A. Alderman, Director of Quail and Upland

Wildlife Federation, Inc. (QUWF).

“Boyt Harness Company and Bob Allen are Icons of outdoor

quality that represent the hunting heritage of our country like

no other. They get it, Boyt Harness Company understands

wildlife conservation and is willing to step up and support the

future for many generations to come and we are proud to say,

Boyt will be a partner of QUWF and our chapters for years to

come,” declares Craig.

“Whether you are on the sporting clays range, chasing quail,

pheasant, duck, turkey, deer or training your hunting dogs,

the Boyt family of products provides the confidence in quality

and selection today’s sportsman needs and will appreciate,”

Alderman concludes.

There is no better description than “turnin’-the-dirt” to understand that

it takes local hands on work with many landowners to ensure multiple

species of upland wildlife populations and the critical habitat they need

is preserved and expanded. Raising the most pure dollars for all upland

species that stays in the local area for wildlife habitat work and

population recovery, is what QUWF is all about and what Boyt Harness

Company can build with QUWF.

“They know what the sportsman can use because they are in

the fields, forests and ranges across the country,” concludes

Craig.

“The impact is almost immediate after fundraisers with

habitat work at the chapter level, it makes a difference,” Nick

Prough, Chief Biologist points out.

Boyt Harness Company

Boyt Harness Company and QUWF are working together to select a line

of logo products that not only serve as great items for fundraisers but are

the best accessories in the home and afield from the Boyt Harness

Company family of brands: Bob Allen, Boyt Tactical, Bug Out, Mud

shovels for conservation.”

Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation, Inc., a tax exempt 501(c)(3)

conservation organization, was formed to serve its members and

chapters nationwide, providing a strong local source of habitat focus on

quail and upland wildlife and population recovery. Millions of dollars of

habitat work have been completed by its members over the years on

thousands of acres of both private and public lands, now that work

continues with a renewed vitality. Our chapters from coast to coast,

Magnum Research

PEARL RIVER, NY --(Ammoland.com)- Magnum Research, a Kahr

Arms-owned company and the maker of the Desert Eagle pistols, has

teamed up with the popular Discovery Channel series, Gold Rush Alaska.

The show begins its second season in the fall of 2011, and Magnum

Research firearms will be an integral part of the season.

Gold Rush Alaska is a reality show following six unemployed men from

Sandy, Oregon who risk everything in the face of an economic meltdown

to strike it rich mining for gold in the wilderness of Alaska. Todd

Hoffman, the leader of the team, and his father Jack assembled the

greenhorn miners to work the claim at Porcupine Creek– one of the last

great wilderness expanses remaining in Alaska. Success depends on the

team’s unity and fighting spirit to overcome numerous obstacles from

wicked weather and mechanical breakdowns to encounters with large

bears and moose. The men are chasing the original “American Dream”

with the desire to take charge of their own destiny rather than waiting

around for a government handout.

Magnum Research was founded in 1985 in Minneapolis, Minn. with a

plan to produce a unique pistol capable of firing magnum-sized bullets in

distinctive custom finishes, including a 24K Gold model, for handgun

hunters and firearm enthusiasts. By the early 1990s, the Desert Eagle’s

unique qualities and unmistakable look earned it starring roles in

numerous movies and TV shows. The Desert Eagle pistol had emerged as

a pop culture icon including a Playboy cover featuring Pamela Anderson

with a pink Desert Eagle pistol. In recent years, Magnum Research

encountered its share of economic struggles, and with the purchase of

the company by Kahr Arms in June 2010, a turnaround story began to

emerge by that fall. Kahr’s goal is to re-establish the iconic Desert Eagle

pistol in the market with a “Made in America” theme.

It’s very fitting that a determined group of six men seeking riches in the

gold fields of Alaska have teamed up with Magnum Research, an iconic

American company whose symbol is a 24K Gold Desert Eagle pistol.

Each of them personifies rugged individualism, courage and hope in the

face of adversary, demonstrating the true fabric of American society.

Are Hollow-Point Bullets IllegalFor Personal DefenseAPR 04, 2011 10:14A.M.

Are Hollow-Point Bullets Illegal For Personal Defense

Michigan Coalition For Responsible Gun Owners

Michigan --(Ammoland.com)- Q: Are hollow-point bullets illegal for

personal defense? What about laser sighting devices?

A: There is no statutory restriction on the type of ammo that you can

carry in your personal defense weapon. Nor is there any prohibition on

sighting devices. There may be some potential concerns about jury

perception if you ever have to use your gun in self-defense and find

yourself facing charges. (This is much less likely to occur at this point in

history than prior to the enactment of Public Act 311 of 2006 [MCL

780.951] which created presumptions that deadly force is appropriate

in certain situations and also created qualified immunity to those who

use force in legitimate self defense.)

There have been examples of prosecutors focusing on the hardware used

by defendants. They try to overcome the self-defense argument by

painting a picture of the armed citizen as blood-thirsty. In one particular

case in another state, the defendant used a certain brand of hollow-point

ammo that came in a box featuring a picture of a hawk or eagle talon. It

appears that the tactic was successful and contributed to the conviction

of an armed citizen who argued that he fired to save his life. I’m told that

the particular brand of ammo in question has changed it’s name and

packaging.

Are Hollow-Point Bullets Illegal For Personal Defense

Many law-enforcement agencies use hollow-point ammunition. There

are some famous brands that are well-known as “good guy” ammo, and a

prosecutor would have a hard time making the case that one who carries

the same ammo in his or her personal defense weapon is being

unreasonable. In my opinion, there is no reason not to carry effective

personal defense ammunition.

The same is true of laser sights in my opinion. The technology is mature,

widely available, and considered effective by tactical experts. From a

legal standpoint, the key is to make sure that any use of force is justified

by necessity and that you control your weapon. Insofar as a laser helps

with control, it seems to me that it is more likely to help a self-defense

shooter avoid liability than create perception issues in the event of a jury

trial.

I have personally recommended hollow-point ammo and laser sights to

family and friends, and will continue to do so.

On a related topic: I have run across examples of engraving on guns,

and more than one tattoo, that might lead to extra challenges for a

defense attorney. For example, engraving “Widowmaker” on your

personal defense gun, or “Make my day” on your arm is certainly bound

to give any jury member the impression that you are something less than

a responsible citizen who hopes to never face the necessity of shooting in

self defense.

This information is provided by The Law Offices of Steven W.

Dulan, PLC (www.stevenwdulan.com) This answer is

intended as general information and should not be relied

upon as legal advice for any specific situation or case. The

facts of each case vary and you should consult an attorney

whenever you have specific questions.

Did you Know? In the 4 years (1997-2000) prior to Michigan becoming

“shall-issue”, reported incidents of crime averaged 4,509 per 100,000

people per year. In the 4 years after, (2002-2005), reported incidents of

crime in Michigan fell 17% to an average of 3,717.

Congressman Refuses Award From Animal Rights Wackos at

HSUS

National Rifle Association

FAIRFAX, Va. --(Ammoland.com)- This week, U.S. Representative

Don Young (R-Alaska) refused an award from the Humane Society of the

United States. As we have frequently reported, despite their innocuous

sounding name, the HSUS is the most radical animal “rights”

organization in the country.

They are extremely anti-hunting and anti-gun.

According to a press release on Rep. Young’s official site, he was to

receive the award for his work on behalf of wildlife in 2010.

The release notes that HSUS takes credit for the good work done by local

humane societies, but does not own, operate, or directly control a single

animal shelter in the entire country, despite a $100 million budget.

“HSUS are hypocrites, plain and simple, and I will not join

them by accepting this award,” said Rep. Young, explaining

his refusal of the award.

“Local animal shelters and humane societies do excellent

work by caring for neglected and homeless animals, and

through their spaying and neutering programs. This

organization, however, has absolutely nothing to do with

animal welfare.

Instead they prey on the emotions of big-hearted Americans.

They flash images of abused animals on our television

screens to raise money that will eventually go to pay their

salaries and pensions, not to helping better the lives of these

animals. They run anti-hunting and anti-trapping

campaigns and are of the same cloth as PETA and other

extremist organizations. I can only guess that I was to

receive this award due to my support of the Wildlife Without

Borders program, which develops wildlife management and

conservation efforts to maintain global species diversity.

That program is true conservation; what this group wants

is preservation.

To accept this award would be supporting their

manipulative ways and misguided agenda, and I want no

part of that.”

Bravo, Congressman Young.

State Mandated Victimhood and You – Perfect Together

State Mandated Victimhood and You - Perfect Together!

National Rifle Association

FAIRFAX, Va. --(Ammoland.com)- This week’s “Outrage” comes to us

from the Garden State, where insult has literally been added to injury for

Mr. Jeffrey Muller.

This outrage was precipitated by an incredible case of mistaken identity.

According to a recent story on the NJ.com Star-Ledger Editorial Page,

Jeffrey Muller—a pet store owner from Sussex County, New

Jersey—happens to have the same name as an alleged New York power

broker.

Unfortunately for Mr. Muller, his namesake ran afoul of five men from

Missouri, apparently bilking them out of $500,000. The five thugs

mistakenly targeted this Jeffrey Muller for revenge. They assaulted him,

shocked him with a stun gun, and kidnapped him, driving him from New

Jersey to Lake Ozark, Missouri. He was blindfolded, beaten and

threatened with death. Fortunately, he was finally able to escape and the

kidnappers were arrested.

Now back in New Jersey, Mr. Muller is understandably still shaken by

the experience and fears reprisal from relatives of his abductors. He

wants to protect himself, so he applied for a gun permit. He was denied.

Twice. And the reason given for the denial? The Superior Court judge

who ruled in the case said Mr. Muller provided “no proof of justifiable

need” to carry a firearm!

Let’s make this clear: Muller was severely beaten, electrically shocked,

abducted, held captive hundreds of miles from his home, threatened

with death, and now fears future reprisals.

And that demonstrates “no justifiable need?” That is

outrageous!

Mexico’s Gun ProblemOriginating from SouthernBoarder Not USAAPR 04, 2011 09:36A.M.

Mexico’s Gun Problem Originating from Southern Boarder

Not USA

National Rifle Association

FAIRFAX, Va. --(Ammoland.com)- Blaming America for Mexico’s

problems has been something of a national pastime for Mexican

politicians for many years.

True to tradition, Mexican president Felipe Calderon has been blaming

Mexico’s astronomically high murder rate on Americans who buy drugs

and who sell guns, rather than on the Mexican drug cartels who commit

a vastly disproportionate share of those murders, and the historic

corruption in Mexico, from which the wicked cartels have spawned.

However, an article published by the Mexico City newspaper La Jornada

suggests that el Presidente might better serve the good people of his

country by looking to his southern border, instead of al norte.

As explained in English by the Latin American Herald Tribune, “The

most fearsome weapons wielded by Mexico’s drug cartels enter the

country from Central America, not the United States, according to U.S.

diplomatic cables disseminated by WikiLeaks and published on Tuesday

by La Jornada newspaper. Items such as grenades and rocket-launchers

are stolen from Central American armies and smuggled into Mexico via

neighboring Guatemala, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City reported to

Washington.”

The article also refers to “Fast and Furious,” an element of the Bureau of

Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ “Project GunRunner”

operation that allegedly knowingly allowed more than 1,700 firearms to

be smuggled into Mexico from our country, including those that may

have been used to murder U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry in

December and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Special

Agent Jaime Zapata in February.

Increasingly, the question is who knew about the operation, and when.

President Obama has stated that neither he nor Attorney General Eric

Holder were aware of the scheme. Holder is said to have told his

subordinates that letting guns “walk” to Mexico is wrong and should not

be repeated. The McAllen, Tex., newspaper, The Monitor, quotes the

Mexican government as saying that it “did not have knowledge on an

operation that included the controlled traffic of weapons in Mexican

territory,” and that “The Mexican government has not and will not give

any implied or formal authorization for this to happen.”

Meanwhile, Fox News reports that U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.),

chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government

Reform, today issued a subpoena to the Justice Department demanding

that the BATFE respond to his March 16 request for information about

the operation, the deadline for which passed on Wednesday. Rep. Issa is

quoted as saying, “The unwillingness of this administration—most

specifically the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms—to answer

questions about this deadly serious matter is deeply troubling.”

CBS News similarly reported that “The Department of Justice and ATF

have missed repeated deadlines to turn over information and

documents” to Congress, and further noted that the investigation of

Project GunRunner may significantly delay hearings on President

Obama’s nomination of BATFE agent Andrew Traver, an activist gun

control supporter, to head the BATFE.

The BATFE has until April 13 to respond to Rep. Issa’s

subpoena. Stay tuned.
