“Every Griz, Every Day!”

“Did You Know” Promotes The Grizzly WayNewport High School’s Leader-ship committee, also known as the Grizzly Way Committee created a new concept to recognize our fellow Grizzlies.

ASB advisor, Mrs. Rhonda Burn-ham, explained that The Grizzly Way committee’s “sole purpose is to assist in creating and building an atmosphere and building culture that enhances the values to become known as the Grizzly Way.”

The goal is to randomly select a student once every two weeks from each grade level to notice and recog-nize.

The chosen students will then fill out a form of interesting and fun facts about themselves. These fun facts may include: birthdays, favorite colors, something the student is pas-sionate about, who they’d like to be remembered as, or maybe an inter-esting fact or two that no one knows about them.

Then the form will be put up on the “Did You Know” board in the High School cafeteria for all of Newport’s students and staff to see.

This activity is meant to highlight students and allow our student body to learn more about each other.

Harley Taylor, one of NHS’s Grizzly Way leaders, is excited about this new element at NHS and says that, “the ‘Did You Know’ board creates an opportunity for students to find things in common with others and be recognized for who they are.”

Band & Choir ConcertDon’t miss Newport High School Band and Choir Con-cert Tuesday, November 3rd at Sadie Halstead Middle School at 6:30PM.

NHS Freshman and band member, Kari Goodrich, said, “there’s not exactly a theme for this concert, but we’re go-ing to play a bunch of really cool music including a selec-tion from the movies Lord of the Rings and Brave.”

In the words of NHS’s band and choir director, Mr. Greg Schuh, this concert should be “pretty tight!”

The High School and Middle School Bands will join forces in just a matter of weeks for their annual Holiday Concert to be held in December at Sadie Halstead Middle School.
